Delicious jellied fruit aromas blend perfectly with inviting roasted notes. The mouthfeel is succulent with dried fruit, malt and delicate hop bitterness. The finish is lingering and warm with fruit and malt notes.

Saint Georges Day 2012: 500ml bottle conditoned ale (5.0%ABV), best before date of 12th April 2012, so 11 days late. Poured slowly into an Abbot Ale glass tankard. The rear label asked for the beer to be served chilled, it was. Dull reddy brown body with a huge light tanned head of foaming bubbles. Malty nose and taste, a semi-dry bitterness from the hops comes very late in the mouthfeel and the overall impression is of a strong, rich, malt flavoured brew. Well carbonated and my sort of beer.

Cask, Hawkley Inn, Hampshire. Good example of cask ESB. Well balanced with caramel, fudge, succulent sweetness from the malts and zesty, ornagelike bitterness from the hops.

Golden amber. Has a toasty, slightly caramelly aroma. Toasty, fairly complex palate. Full-bodied, with an earthy, caramel finish. Quite a bit better than Doom Bar.

Copper colour with a lasting creamy off-white head. Malt, grains, apple and a hint of grassy hops in the aroma. Malty, caramel sweet flavour, with a little roast dryness. Could use more balancing hops.
