Bottle @ Fonefan Summer Gathering. Black with a beige ehad. Aroma is sweet, roasted malty, wood and peated whisky. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily. 190817

8 3 8 4 16 Bottle shared at Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering ’17. Black with a ring beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, oak barrel, peat (but surprisingly fairly light and balanced), caramel, toffee and roast. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with alcohol warmth in the finish and soft carbonation.

75 cl bottle. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and liqourice. Dark malty. Bitter, roasted, dsrk malty and liqourice. Smoked to slight peated. Roasted dark malty. Dry and roasted finish.

Small tan head over black beer. Again smoke, tar, fusely aromas. Tar again, with chocolate, bit of pine, resin. Very well bodied, viscous, alcoholheat. Less than some. 7/4/7/4/15

Thank you kraddel & tderoeck! Sampled draft @ VCBF 2017. Lagavulin might be less peated than Octomore but Octopussy is far more mellow than Hollow. Looks the same as others black with only deep mocha rim on the sides. Nose is heavy peat with strong roast, varnish, pancake syrup Black Albert in the back. Peat level here is not too bad, some good peat but it doesn’t blend with the base, just sticks out on top, harsh, boozy, overly alcoholic. Too simple as others with no blend of components. Lesser one for me, with less peat, I would have definitely liked it more.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige to brown head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very very peated, smoky, roasted. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very roasted, caramel, sugary, more alcohol, pretty peated. Aftertaste: nothing but peat.

Draft @ ’t Schooltje, merci Carlo. Several tasters shared with Omgrich. De couleur noire, le tout huile de moteur laissant un filament doré au verre, le col est intense et moka. Arôme est fort centré sur les malts, ici on retrouve le caractère complexe de Black Albert mais avec un ajout d’un whisky tourbé qui malgré sa réputation d’être très tourbé reste fort plaisant et comporte même un ajout modéré de vanille. Au palais une bière tout en épaisseur, jouant sur les malts, chocolaté, caramel, pour un corps soyeux et crémeux en bouche couronné par un profil tourbe somptueux. C’est riche avec une bonne balance de la barrique. N’étant pas forcément fan des bières jouant trop la carte du tourbé, cette version est surprenante d’autant plus qu’elle est tout bonnement divine. Après une bonne demi-heure, le caractère s’ouvre encore plus, le tourbé prenant alors une meilleur place mais toujours dans une bonne balance. Une bière qui fait honneur à la série des Black Albert par sa complexité mais aussi par son usage du tourbé digne rival des Bruichladdich.

@ jong keukengeweld . Pours black , grey head . Smell is sharp , dry . Bit peat ( but not much ) and roasted malts . Taste is bit dry , sweet, full , black malts . Bit peat , but blended in so very nice , that I don’t only not hate it ( as all other octomore beers so far ) I even think its good !
