8th July 2008. Nose of cherry bakewell tart. Carries over in to the taste - cherry and almond sweetness. a very light hop touch at the end.

Cask at Ealing beer fest 2009. Orange pour with virtually no head. Cherry aroma. Cherry, fruity, hints of almonds almost festive taste. Boozy and rather pleasant.

[Cask, gravity dispense, at Heathrow Beer Festival 2008.] Straw coloured with no head; fresh cherry aroma; rich, ripe cherry flavours, slightly sour and giving a syrupy sweetness, and some bitterness to finish. I found this really enjoyable.

Cask at GBBF08. Marcipan aroma. Hazy orange colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour is slightly sweet with some marcipan and a hint of cherry aftertaste. Not very good.

Cask, third pint, from The Mid West England Bar at GBBF. Dark orange in body colour without any foam. Cherry up front mixed with candy sweet cough drops. Gets too sweet in spite of a light bitter ending. A rather vain attempt to do something else (Rating no. 1600, 08.08.2008).

Cask at the GBBF 2008. Deep golden colour, low coarse head. No carbonation in the glass. Strong aroma of marzipan / artificial almond essence and cherries. The flavour is also dominated by marzipan / almond essence with moderate cherries, but leaves overall an "unfresh", too sweet and rather nasty impression. Might have been slightly better if colder and with some carbonation. Worst beer of the festival for me.

Cask at GBBF 08. Hazy copper, disappearing beige head. Cherry, marzipan aroma. Cherry throat lozenge aroma. It’s got some artificial sweet cough syrup cherry. Really quite poor.

Clear amber with tiny short lasting head. Sweet aroma with cherries, marzipan and almond notes. Sweet flavor with cherries, almond and loads marzipan. Ends very sweet.

[Gravity at North Wiltshire Beer Festival] Just realised I failed to add this on here when I added on my historic ratings. The innocuous-looking golden colour belies the huge smell of marzipan that emanates from it. Tatses like a liquidised bakewell tart - overpowering fake almond flavour, with sickly sweet glace cherries on top and a lingering unpleasantly syrupy mouthfeel. Even my brother, who loves bakewell tart, conceded that this was a bit over the top! Unusual, but not in a good way...
