Launched as Best Bitter with the opening of the Ringwood Brewery in 1978. Awarded Bronze Medal at the Munich Beer Festival in 2005. The brewery was bought by Marston's (later Carlsberg-Marston's) in 2007. Rebranded as Razorback in November 2015. Production moved to Banks's in Dec 2023 when the Ringwood Brewery closed, and then to the former Marstons brewery in Burton on Trent in 2025.
The perfect supping beer! Our first brew and still the New Forest’s favourite tipple. Nose: Tempting hop aroma with fruit notes. Palate: Good malt feel in the mouth, dry, tangy fruit finish. Comments: Delicious, easy drinking slightly tart pale bitter.

Pint on tap at The Duke & Rye, Chichester. Ruby red beer with thin white head. Laces well. Zero carbonation. Slight nose of malt and hops. A little zingy, smooth texture otherwise. Malt finish with some late sour bitterness. Easy to drink, good quaffer.

As a "Best Bitter". Cask at the Isle of Wight near Atlantic Ocean. Pairing with Calmari. Fajne, miedziano-herbaciana barwa. Z pol cm piany, smakowo mnostwo goryczki w tradycyjnym brytyjskim stylu, zero slodowosci i nieco opiekanej, mocno zrumienionej skorki od chleba. W aromacie czarna herbata, oczywiscie bez mleka:)

Latest rating: at the Red Lion, Swaffham Prior. Chestnut brown. Sour vinegar sulphurous aroma. Taste is actually sweet and quaffable, with a lovely hoppy aftertaste. A reasonable ale, although I’m not overly keen.

On handpull at the Old Vine. Aroma is a little fruity but not much, and the flavour has bread, malts and grapes. Rerate: Handpull at a hotel. Touch of egg in a fruity bitter aroma, lovely toffee and bready malts with some dried fruit and a little bright apple.

Cask as Razor Back at the Porter & Sorter, Croydon. It pours clear rich amber with a thick white head. The aroma is brown bread, cereal, nut, earth and cereal. The taste is bitter - sweet, wood, cereal, toasted grain, brown bread, nut and light spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Great condition. Pretty alright actually.

Cask pint at the Sand Martin, Cardiff. Copper colour, lasting moderate head, slightly off-white. Moderate malty aroma, hints of toffee. Very smooth mouthfeel and flavour, moderately malty but not sweet, a slight fruitiness makes it very drinkable. Decent hops in the aftertaste.
