Imperial Stout + Wine Barrels + Time

The decadence in this beer is derived from our imperial stout base of Wildebeest. It's been accentuated by a hint of acidity and fruit character picked from its barrel ageing in Pinot Noir barrels for upwards to 2 years!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Black. Chocolate, red wine, a bit of funk, grapes, plum, berries, sweet and sour, full-bodied. Great stuff, unique.

Black colour with ruby reflexes, head is just small beige rim. Aroma is lots of red wine and raspberry syrup, some coffee and coconut. Alcohol warms up but does not disturb in any way. Medium sweetness, lightly sour. Soft carbonation, cloying. Fantastic!

Tap at BeerGeek with Gurthnar. Pitch black, brownish head. Nice red wine barrel aroma, juicy almost, good creamy maltiness, liqueurish. Spicy red wine on top of cocoa and maltiness. Light coconut notes. Fresh, tasty in my book!

Tap at Beergeek. Lots of sour astringent flavour floating on point of anything good there may be. Lots of fruitiness. Hard to drink, hard to exist with. Blah.

Bottle , 0.75l, shared with colleagues. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and red wine. Pours cloudy dark brown color with totally diminishing light brown head. Taste starts with sweet roasted malt and chocolate, following is tart and rich vinous with woody note and warm alcoholic mouthfeel. Full body, almost syrupy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Beauty of the beast...

On tap at Lajbah, Ljubljana. Sour Beer Weekend. Shared with little Dina. Black, small tan head. Aroma is spicy, light barrel, red wine present, roasty component present. Some alcohol. Sticky, malty, slightly sweet with a wine-like presence. Drinkable for a 11%. Spicy and fruity finish. Strong in the end.
