Bought this in Ontario when up for the Phillies Bluejays game in 2011. This can has been in the shore house fridge ever since.

June 2011: Obtained from a local ’Bargin Booze’ outlet, just for joke: I was determinded to dislike it and had a bias preconception formed from trying other high alcohol canned lagers in the UK. However, I liked the damn thing! Wonderfully sunny day, and I was knackered after grafting all week: sat in the back garden I remembered this beer and thought I’d give it a go. Poured into Budweiser Budvar stemmed tulip. Lovely snow white head on top of a crystal clear golden, bright lager. Looked almost identical to the wifes Carlsberg Export, except the Carlsberg had next to no head. Alcohol esters in an otherwise odourless lager/pilsner type non-smell, I give a score of 3 for smell-less lagers/pilsners. The actual taste reminded me of a Brigand Belgian Ale, with the alcohol being a little more prominent in this beer. I also expected a nasty metalic headache type feel to the aftertaste, this didn’t happen and I was pleasantly suprised by the beer in general. Sure it had too much alcohol for my tastes, but it told me that on the tin. This a lot better than many in this class or style, honest.

LCBO ($2ish): Basically, this beer tastes not as bad as motor oil and ash trays can smell. Fortunately, I had only a few sips of this jawn and they were not pleasant, but I guess if I were a homeless Canadian I would drink something like this.

500ml can picked up in Hastings. Amber with a thin white head; the aroma has some malt and a lot of alcohol with a touch of spice; some tropical fruit flavours are overpowered by the sweet malts; the finish is dry, with alcohol, that while obvious isn’t too rasping, and warms gently. I guess I’m not in the target market for this type of beer, and I don’t really see the attraction, but this one isn’t too bad.

Can in Firenze. Pours gold with a foamy white head. Light aromas of nothing much. Near med body. Flavor is sweet and alcoholic. Malty more than hoppy. It isn’t really nasty, and the heat isn’t all that bothersome, but it just isn’t pleasant to consume.

Originally rated January 2006. Nothing better, after drinking a bad AB non-alcoholic brew. Pours a golden colour with some little orange in it, and a big white head. Retention is low, but lacing is foamy all around. Tiny bubble, slow and light carbonation. The aroma is yeasty with a strong smell of fruit, like oranges and other citrus. At first, the taste is strong and edgy. After a few sips, it gets quite smooth. Bitter middle, and slows down into the aftertaste. Not much taste other than that. Some alcohol present. Still prefer Mongoose, over this English malt liquor.

Deep yellow clear appearance, whitish foamy small head, vanilla aroma, mild carbonation, sweetish hoppy taste, medium finish. Too much alcohol content to enjoy properly!
