Bottle. Pours clear amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some nutmeg and cinnamon with a bit of light fruits and sweet grains backbone. Flavor has cinnamon and nutmeg throughout with sweet grains and just a hint of light fruits in the finish.

Pour is a black with a large mocha tan head. Aroma is roasted malt ans semi-sweet chocolate. Flavor is not totally bitter and not super sweet chocolate. Finish is a little bitter and leaves a nice roasted malt on the tongue. Nothing wrong with this, just a nice simple stout.

Lot of muddled flavors that donβt particularly mix for me. Blah.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep amber copper with a finger of beige head that dissipates quickly. Nutmeg and cinnamon dominate the nose with some Belgian candi sugar notes and citrus as it warms. Palate has more of the same with nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon spice dominating again. Citrus and cranberry skin dryness on the finish.

Single can from Binny's. Stuffy nose keeps me from getting much of a bouquet. I can just drag in a light impression of tart fruit, maybe berries. Golden color with a bit of brass, under a white head. I've not been crazy about Victory's Monkey series; I guess they're just not the Gold Monkeys. Decently tart taste, a bit of Belgian grain can be detected. Alcohol is not that up front, but that is a character of a tripel.

Just a damn good American stout. No adjuncts, no barrels, no syrupy residual lactose. Roasted malts create notes of caramel and dark chocolate and mocha, followed by hints of dark fruit and a firm bitterness on the finish. Excellent beer.

12 ounce bottle. Jet black pour. Silky tan head leaves miraculous lacing. Aroma of baking chocolate and brown bread. Flavor is dark roasted malt, dark chocolate and charred wood. Medium bodied. Finishes with a hint of burnt toast.

12 oz. can from Binny's, Best By July 18, 2024. Light berry seltzer nose. Pours slightly reddish. Thick head leaves a little lace. Mildly tart flavor with some general berry on the side. Berry flavor seems slightly artificial. Tartness is agreeable, but overall taste doesn't let the alcohol come through.

Roasty, chocolate, boozy from the bourbon. Solid. Pretty good from these two breweries.
