Description
Williams Bros Brewing Company is a Scottish family-owned microbrewery, founded and operated by brothers Bruce and Scot Williams.

The Williams Bros. Brewing Co. started life in the humble ‘Glenbrew’ homebrew shop in Glasgow. The first beer brewed was the ‘Fraoch’ Heather Ale at a small 5-barrel brewery in Taynuilt, After the 2nd year of brewing in the Taynuilt brewery and with demand far out stripping supply the brothers decided to expand and also to diversify the range with five Historic Ales. These ales were produced at the new purpose built brewery and premises in Craigmill, Strathaven from 1998-2004.

In 2004 the brothers took over the ‘Forth Brewery’ at Kellibank, Alloa where Maclay’s had been contract brewing and packaging their beers since the sale of their old Alloa brewery. It was at this stage in proceedings that Heather Ale Ltd became Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

The taste is juicy, sweet - sour, mulled apple cider, warming spice, fiery, fresh gingerbeer, white sugary vibes and a squeeze and a squeeze of lemon with a short, tangy finish. Light body and average carbonation. Fairly simple stuff, but drinks ok.

Can from Aldi, Ellon. It likes lightly hazy pale orange with a thick, but dissipating white head. The aroma is fresh, juicy, bright, zingy, grapefruit, lemonade, fiery gingerbeer, lemon & ginger tea and some pineapple chunks. The taste is crispy, dry, sweet, juicy, bright, sweet yet spicy, plenty of grapefruit, lemonade, lemon sherbets, fruit cordial, warming, spicy, fiery ginger and candied ginger with a tangy and spicy finish. Average body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Strikes a really nice balance. Way better than the orange version.

Can from Aldi, Ellon. It pours golden - blonde with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, orange squash, orange creamsicle, tangy, spicy and fiery ginger beer. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, crunchy, juicy, big orange squash character, orange tango, tangerine, warming spice which builds, fiery gingerbeer and some damp grain with a soft, orangey finish. Average body and average carbonation. A game of 2 halves - orange squash & ginger beer. Like drinking both at the same time. Not bad per se, just weird. Fine.

Can from Aldi, Chippenham. Gold with an obvious fizz and a lasting white head. Rather thin and watery. Light tropical fruit up front, with lemon and lime taking over as you drink more. A light dusty bitterness at the end. It's an ok brew that seemed to go rather well with my fish and chips - I quite enjoyed it.
