The Williams Bros. Brewing Co. started life in the humble ‘Glenbrew’ homebrew shop in Glasgow. The first beer brewed was the ‘Fraoch’ Heather Ale at a small 5-barrel brewery in Taynuilt, After the 2nd year of brewing in the Taynuilt brewery and with demand far out stripping supply the brothers decided to expand and also to diversify the range with five Historic Ales. These ales were produced at the new purpose built brewery and premises in Craigmill, Strathaven from 1998-2004.
In 2004 the brothers took over the ‘Forth Brewery’ at Kellibank, Alloa where Maclay’s had been contract brewing and packaging their beers since the sale of their old Alloa brewery. It was at this stage in proceedings that Heather Ale Ltd became Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

From Amstein, drinking it tonight, at home, relax, after a day at Renens for my job. A classical ipa, rather old style, fresh note malt, resinous, smooth, rather light bitterness, citrus, rather light body, a bit watery.

Best before 05/25, purchased at Amstein. Openin this can yesterday, at night. Good suprise of 2026. I had a good time with this powerful neipa, really smooth and malty, note of rye, perfumed, generous note of pineapple, strawberry, lychee, citrus bitter.

Can on 19th February 2026 from Aldi, Kentish Town. Pours slightly hazy amber with shallow, quickly collapsing off-white foam and scant lacing. Earthy, pungent notes, tangy fruits and nutty malts in aroma. Pines, resins and peels in-mouth. Berry fruits, sharp spices and sweet malts dominate the finish. Medium bodied with a zingy mouthfeel.

[44cl can from my local Aldi.] A hazy amber pour with a fading white head; citrus aroma with a little pine resin; juicy citrus taste with lots of orange and lemon; then a crisp dry finish. Good stuff.

[44cl can from my local Aldi.] A pale amber pour with a slight haze and a loose white head; aroma of pine and citrus; soft and creamy in the mouth with a citrus taste and some caramel malts; then a building resinous bittterness with some grapefruit zest. Pleasant enough, but needs to be crisper.
