Sampler at BJs Tukwila. Very hazy dull golden color, lots of head retention and lacing. Typical of Stone style the hops are stripped and not nuanced and taste like industrial IPA. Just bitterness and bland generic hop flavor. Leaves an unappealing taste in my mouth for a while..

Nitro pour. Murky chestnut, medium creamy beige head, good lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, lactose sugar, light coffee. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, watery with some light roasty notes and not much else. Medium body, watery mouthfeel.

On tap at San Bruno location. Aromas of bread, decaying pine needles and slight molasses. Poured mostly clear orange with white head. Taste was assertive chewy bread malt. Faint orange and dirty forest floor. Mouthfeel was a cloying - surprisingly so for the ABV. A disappointment after enjoying the Oktoberfest.

Draft at the Tanforan location near SFO airport. Rich malt, with a beautiful clear amber with slight tan head that lingered. Taste was moderate malt with medium full mouthfeel from nice roundness. Very slight floral background. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this!

21st May 2015: BJ’s Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. Last and strongest beer of the eight. Looked fine, ruby hue to the dark body with a good tanned foam blanket on top. Malty and smooth feel to the brew, however the alcohol is not hidden too well as the malty flavour is not deep enough to carry the 8.5% ABV. Thought the beer OK but preferred the PM Porter to this in their dark beer selection.

21st May 2015: BJ’s Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. Thought this was the best of the eight beers I tried on the day. Ruby hue to the dark body, on top a lightly tanned foam blanket. Malts all the way here, fairly sweet initially it bottoms out a little drier and roasted latter in the mouth. Hides the alcohol well with it’s depth of flavours. My sweet tooth took to this.

21st May 2015: BJ’s Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. Autumnal red body with a thin white covering for a head. Malty, nutty and semi-sweet in nature. OK brew that does not test your senses to greatly, but has a pleasant aroma and taste. My sweet tooth liked it.

21st May 2015: BJ’s Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. Copper body with a full white crown on top. Malty and semi-sweet with a fruity feel to the taste. Mild caramel notes mingle with the light hop content to hide the alcohol level nicely: decent.

21st May 2015: BJ’s Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. As the name suggests, this is amber in colour, my glass had a thin wispy white scum where the head should have been. Malty lead and fairly sweet taste throughout: caramel being the main flavour I picked up. A bit one dimensional, but my sweet tooth liked it.
