Cask at jdw. Dark brown mahogany brown coloured pour with a sticky greyish cream head. Aroma is nutty, raisin, little choc, berry, dusty. Flavour follows, nutty, dry choc, dry wood. Palate is medium body, decent cask condition. OK beer. Bit old and dusty.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - close to black but with some red chinks. Nice fawn head. Nose - earthy, otherwise elusive. Taste - hold on, didn’t expect a marmalade note. Actually going into a herb and Grand Marnier thing. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - not a typical stout. But good. Cask at the Spoons in short distance from Craft Clerko. Thanks to Fargus. It pours deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earthy, mild acidity, toast, liquorice and dark fruits. The taste is bitter, mild acidity, ashy, eaarth, dark fruits, berry, liquorice and leather with a very dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Decent enough stout.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear golden with a lacing, white head. Very discreet aroma, some dirty British hops. Medium body, a dry fruitiness and nothing much more. At least not horribly phenollic or anything. 270315

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Deep brown-black with a loose tan head. Alcohol is a bit evident on the nose but is well hidden in the cavalcade of flavours when tasted- lots of coffee and blackcurrant are bolstered by a little chocolate and cough mixture. A big hit of roasted malt in the finish. A big, boisterous, punchy stout that’s my fave so far at this ’Spoons fest.

Hamilton Hall. Spoons. Cask. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth dry palate, mild fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, trace of licorice. Mild spice. Fair bit of cooked apple. Modest citrus and a trace of coffee roast before a dry finish. Flavoursome but doesn’t hang together, too much apple.

Cask at the foot of the walk. Pours deep brown, nose is toffee, roasted chocolate, a little cheesy, taste is burnt toffee, caramel, light fruit, sweet.

Cask at the foot of the walk... Brown.. Thin tan head.. Soft sweet toffee metalic malts nose.. Soft sweet toffee fruit.. Light licorice abd blackcurrant

Cask at the white lady. Pours clear dark brown, thin tan head. Aromas of burnt toffee, light coffee. Taste is more burnt sugar. Light booze heat. Sweet finish.
