Description
COTSWOLD CRAFT BEER SINCE 1994

Using traditional methods our beers are brewed in small batches, and our Head Brewer Colin Williams oversees every aspect of the process. From the milling of the malt, the boiling of the hops, to the filling of the casks – everything is lovingly crafted to ensure that our beers reach you in perfect condition. Each beer recipe is known as the Grist. Colin and his team come up with the recipes, using over 20 years experience they work out the perfect blend of malts, hops and other ingredients. The night before a brew, the appropriate amount of malts are weighed out and loaded into the hopper of our vintage mill.

(Cask at The Bear Paddington, London, 28 May 2025) Hazy golden colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity nose with notes of tropical fruit, mango and citrus. Fruity taste with citrus, peaches, white bread, mango, pineapple and a mild citric bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Refreshing, with a good touch of tropcial fruit. Nice one.

25/05/2025: 500ml bottle. Clear golden, white head. Aroma of very biscuity malts, mild citrus. Taste has those American C hops coming through surprisingly alright for the style, definite citrus notes and a bit of pine, still very English in character though with the strong biscuity malt base being the main focus, moderate bitter finish. Light-medium body, spritzy carbonation. A better effort than most trad brewers with regards to the hop usage.

04/09/2025: Also tried this on Cask at Whittle Taps, Cheltenham. Really not much like the bottle counterpart. Dominated by floral hop notes and not much else, even the malts not showing well here. Glad I tried the bottle previously otherwise I'd consider this mediocre. Probably a 6/10 rating.

Handpull cask at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester.dark gold, muddy hazy with a small film of white head and uneven lacing. Light tropical fruit, grassy character, Horlicks, coconut. Malt-heavy on the tongue with sour passionfruit getting through. Balanced finish. Medium body with very soft carbonation. It ain't bad but unlikely to excite.

Cask at Tap & Spile, Birmingham. Clear gold with small white head which lasts well. This one turned out to be a fairly typical floral and citrus noted gold, reasonable hoppiness, slightly above average, quite nice.
