Description
Kompania Piwowarska operates three breweries with rich heritage: Tyskie Browary Książęce (established in 1629), the Dojlidy Brewery in Bialystok (1768) and Lech Browary Wielkopolski in Poznan (1895). These breweries provide Polish people with their favourite beers, including Żubr, Tyskie, Lech, Dębowe, Redd’s and the Książęce specialty collection. Our proven beer recipes, natural ingredients, pristinely clean breweries and, above all, superbly skilled and experienced brewers, allow us to brew beers that are highly valued in Poland and abroad.

Canned(500ml). -Surprisingly good Polish ESL. Clear golden, almost no head, malty nose. Aroma is malty, nice hoppy and slight bready with few sweet alcoholic hints. Mild alcoholic finish. Drinkable.

Canned(500ml). -Just another boring and average Polish lager. Clear golden coloured, small white head. Malty sweet aroma with nice hoppy notes. Not so pleasant metallic bitter finish.

Bottle 0,5l. Golden coloured. A shortlived white head that does not disappear completely. Faint aroma of malt. Sweet malty flavour. The strength shines through. Rather dull.

500ml bought at Alko, Tampere. Golden body. Bubbly but fast diminishing foam. Firm lacing on the glass. Rich malty aroma. Moderate to full mouthfeel, but the flavour gives a very shallow impression. Very sweet with alcoholic undertones (25.10.2006).

Sampled under the name Piwogranie Virtually no head, yet quite carbonated pale yellow beer with some orange shine. Terrible nose, as a mixture of dubious fruitgums and something distinctly medicinal - maybe from a Chinese herbmixer from a century ago. Sweet-sour, fruity flavour but unnaturally so. Again fruitgums, diluted fruitconcentrate, and a medicinal flavour that pervades the finish as it does the nose. Fizzy, lemonade-like MF. Compared to this, the "apple" version is a Godsend.

White pearly head, gone in secs over darker golden beer. If anything, a nose of yellow-green grapefruit. As to apples, zilch, but the nose is very fruity, and surprisingly not at all artificial. Taste: now this IS apple. Sweet apples, dried, but with a fresh sourish onset, that unfortunately seems added. The German ingredients’ list tends to prove this: lemonaroma, acids, including apple (malonic?) acid are added... Refreshing MF, light. At least when served cold; I fear that it might become a tad cloying warming up. This is the opposite of Belgian fancy fruit beers: this IS chemistry and appears natural, whilst the Belgians are usually half-honest and appear totally fake...

Test vom 2.9.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 4,12,12,13,11,12 - 11,30

Canned(500ml). –Pale golden almost yellow coloured, small airy head. Luscious water with strong artificial sugary and slight ginger taste. And, yes, why tornado on the label.

0.5l can shared with and courtesy of ozujsko (thanks!) Classic Gingers Beer. My first ginger beer.... never had a drink with ginger (that I can remember), so I had nothing to compare it to. It poured a pale ochre/orange colour with lively carbonation. The nose is apparently dominated with ginger (not that I knew, but ozujsko said that that was ginger, and I trust him). It was nice enough. The taste is damn sweet.... It tasted like a radler someone dumped some ginger and aspartame in. Not that unlike "tequila flavoured" beers like Desperados. The number of E’s in the ingredients is staggering...but apart from aspartame all seem to be harmless. I didn’t dislike it as much as I probably should have, and I thought it was a nice... well, juice. Oh, and why on Earth is there a tornado on the label ?
