THE UNEXAMINED BEER IS NOT WORTH BREWING
There comes a time in every man’s life when he must ask himself – Should I continue working my steady and lucrative job or should I just quit and make beer? Well, for Norfolk-native Porter Hardy, the decision was a no-brainer. In 2012, the former home-brewer (and now former lawyer) traded his ties in for tap handles, and never looked back. With a stellar team around him, Porter entered un-fermented waters as one of the original craft breweries to set up shop in Hampton Roads.

Gold pour. Pumpkin with some spice flavor. Not very powerful. Very subtle in flavor. Not a lot of Fall flavors that you find in most Oktoberfest beers. It's still a good beer and very drinkable

Very hazy, deep and opaque rich orange and thick straw yellow coloured body, with a nice two centimetre tall off-white and tan head that caps the beer nicely. Aroma of oranges, lactose, cream, vanilla, light grass, a dash of honey and some deep resin, but this seems very flavourful and hoppy. Medium to Full-bodied; Very strong orange-y and light grassy notes come through at first with some assertive bitterness from the fresh hops and ending with a light sweetness of candy and light fruits with the citrusey notes front and centre, but a deep, pretty noticeable malt backbone that hits nicely throughout. Aftertaste is deep, rich, hoppy, but balanced nicely throughout, with a good fruity sweetness with some additional honey, too, but a solid bitterness from the very fresh hops, with a relatively easy-going finish, but good for the style and respectable throughout. Get it if you like the style and can find it - the great name, theme and can make it that much better, too! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Trader Joe's in Newport News, Virginia on 20-November-2022 for US$3,50 sampled at my house here in Washington about a month later on 22-December-2022.
