Who the hell puts a tripel in a 5L mini keg? - it’s like serving a martini in a yard glass - I think the mini keg must be some kind of cruel joke, because this beer was not all that good - sweet honey and strong herbs throughout, with some light vanilla and mango - everything was just kind of muddled and blah - maybe the brewers knew this - maybe their reasoning was, "we can unload this crap fast if we sell it in mini kegs; by the time they realize it’s crappy, it’ll be too late; they’ll be stuck with 4.9 liters of mediocre beer" - the scene ends in a fade out, with the brewers laughing maniacally while slowly clasping and unclasping their hands.

I had this once before, I think CaptainCougar shared it at a gathering. I wasn’t a fan then but thought I would give it another go around at the brewpub. 750mL split between 3 people. The pour is completely murky, thick, cannot see into it at all. The color is orange-copper. There are some small carbonation bubbles that pop up at the sides of the glass. Aroma is strong, sweet, cherry, and alcohol... surprised? It is strong and out of control. The cherry is there and it works decently. Taste has a lot more alcohol, they even tingle the lips a little bit. Alcoholic biscuit bread throughout, much less cherry comes trough, just a sweetness. Hot mess as I first thought.

Tap @ brewpub. Dark copper/brown color with a small but strong head. Aroma is tangerine zingy hops with light caramel malts. The taste has a but less zing and a but more hops. Some medium bitterness follows. It is about as average as a DIPA can get, needs less malts, which get in the way of the hops.

Tap @ the brewpub, comes with a strong small head that never fades atop a dark copper/brown color. Aroma is strong on the maltiness and light sweetness represented with dank malts. and even some dank hops as well. Flavor has a nice sweetness with a but of a woodsy maltiness and clearer hops (indistinct). I like the sweetness but seems unnatural for the style.

Courtesy of Beerman6686. Pours hazy deep rose with thin white head. The aroma is moderate in strength and carries notes of prunes, cherries and black pepper. There’s also a mild under current of sour tartness. The taste is prune, cherry and a moderate level of black pepper. A nice smooth sweetness seems to run from front to back and balancing the peppery-ness and dark cherry fruitiness.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Miver. Pours a clear amber golden with an off-white head. Sweetish fruity aroma with light notes of yeast. Quite full-bodied with plenty of fruit, a little phenols and yeast. Not many traces of cherries though. A little sulphurous with a dry finish and some alcohol showing. 010509
