Church Brew Biers de Noel: S5L3F1T4O6: Brownish, but this dark atmosphere at the CBW makes it difficult to see. Has a somewhat fruity note in the smell, perhaps with some metallic olfactory in there. Woooooh, first taste is a rather alky impression but it seems to numb up the old taste buds and the alky-ness goes away until the next slug. Is a little hot IMHO and att 8%, I guess it is difficult to hide the hotness. Very little, if any carbonation. Stronger on the taste buds than I expected. A little too much for this lager lover. Medicinal at the times and relatively mouth coating. Finish is quite lingering alky. Strongest tasting Beire de garde I ever had.

Pours amber, beige head. Aroma is malty / caramel, earthly hops. Taste, malty with some ncie chocolate notes with subtle nutty addition. Beer is well balanced, light hops giving an alsmot dark fruits flavor, with an always present nice chocolate / caramel malts. Finish leaves some light bitter hops. Beer became more enjoyable as it warmed up. One great dunkel.

Pours copper/orange, white head. Aroma, yeasty, hoppy. Taste, reminded me a lot of Freaktoberfest, has this sirupy, medicinal taste almost like grenadine. Fruity with some citrus / grapefruit, and a strong hoppy aftertaste. Bitter finish, almost too much.

OTH tasting 09/06/08 courtesy of Nelson. Pours very hazy yellow gold orange with white head. The aroma is banana, tart notes, fruity esters and hints of bubble gum. The taste seems to blend both grainy malts and banana together to go along with fruity esters, more banana and some mild bubble gum. Very nice. It is smooth and blended without any disruptive bright notes that seems to be common for many in this style.

Pours golden, with a really thick white head. Aroma, fruity (citrus), yeasty (close to vegetable). Taste, hoppy, sugary malts with a fair amount of citrus/banana. Not a bad pislner, the beer is just loaded with citrus, malts and yeast.

Don’t you just love a beer that has the same first name as you? Pale ubitous color and appearance. with a nice foamy head during the pour which fades to a tea froth after it settles. Very little aroma but the nose knows its pretty clean, strong, aromaless volatile fumes. Interestingly sharp initial taste bud sensations without being heavily hopped. Nearly acrid but in a good way. Nice lacing I may say, like yer good girl’s lingerie. Quite strong as the session continues. Does not hide the alky impact well. A little more clean than most impy pilsners. Fisnish is just plain lingering and annoying.

Oh yes oh yes oh yes, just had it today on tap at the works...... Looks like root beer with a tea froth head. Interesting aroma like no other and this aroma carries on thru to the flavor. Woodsy and damp if you know what I mean, like waking up on a cold autum night in a damp forrest. Quite indescribable. Reminds me of a candy I had as a child, bought it at Mary’s on Monaca road. Woody character. Interestingly offensive without being over the top. Not bad for a different kind of brew. Bitterness which lasts for a while on the finish. Way too expensive, $3 for a 4 oz sample. Chew on some dead damp branches which you grab on yer way thru the grove.

Just had it today at the Church Brew Works, nice place if you are into various styles of beer. Nice creamy head, looks like rootbeer. Rather sparkling in the glass. initial flavors are hoppy bitter. Has a fairly medicine quality about it. Not bad but quite different than many beers I’ve had here. Finish is also medium lingering medicinal quality. Yep, the rye sticks out in this one.

Pours amber cloudy, white head. Aroma, hoppy and fruity (lime / orange) Taste, I am not usually a big IPA / oppy fan, but this brew was damn sweet on the palate with still some hops bitetrness. Well balanced with malts and the fruits and the right dose of hops. This is one excellent 2xIPA. Zeus really hit this one with lightning bolts and did something amazing with this beer. The Gods are with us.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours deep orange with copper hues and off white head. The aroma has solid malt notes pairing up with tangelo and grapefruit juice. The taste has some creamy malt sweetness mixing with a mouth full of grapefruit hops and tangelo. Very nice mixture of flavors where the malty sweetness and the solid hops are in a tasty proportion to one another with the hops having the bolder character. Very nice IPA and decent IIPA.
