A dark reddish amber IPA with a thick moka head. In aroma, pleasant floral hops with wild grass notes. In mouth, a bitter and unbalanced version, lacking malts, bilous notes, watery. On tap at PA Flavor, April 9th, 2011.

Had this on tap at the Allegheny 6 Pack and Doghouse , nice place. I looked thru the listings and couldn’t find it so here it is. Big and black with a rocky tan head. Smell is just plain beery good with a small olfactory hit of pine. Some co2 but fairly flat. Taste is big and bitter,m as expected for the style. Pretty rude and it does taste like a dark IPA. A little over the top for this lager lover. Big long bitter linger, did I say its on style?

So this was my July 4th beer for 2010! Drank it with my wife. On tap at the brewery. Smells like a bitter IPA, you know, all floral hops and such. Looks like a really attractive stout, has lots of tan choco moose head and a its really black in the glass. First taste is virtually flat. Quite bitter chewing on green grapefruit rinds and spruce needles. Quite strong IPA wise but has a relatively watery and thin palate. Not viscous oily or mouthcoating like many IPA. Finish is bitter medicine. Medium strong lasting linger. Overall, reminds me of many darker rye IPA i’ve sampled. Yep, just an IPA masquerading as a stout.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized creamy beige head that lingered and produced great lacing. The aroma was very faint sweet cherries, pear, caramel and alcohol. The flavor was tangy with light candied fruit, sugar, nut and alcohol. The finish was long, nutty, fruity and had lingering sugar and alcohol. Thick and syrupy body. The booziness really detracts. Ok.

Light amber color. Chocolatey, very malty, a touch of cherry cough syrup. Not bad, but fairly average all around.

Sampled at the January ’10 Metro Detroit tasting. Poured a cloudy orange with an amber hue and a creamy light brown head. Aroma was full of sugars, sweet cherries and some booze. Flavor was overly sweet with notes of cherries and booze.

Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a black color with a large creamy brown head. The aroma was sweet cocoa and vanilla with a faint roasty and smoky undertone. The flavor was a lovely mix of butter, rum, vanilla, cocoa and cream. The finish was long with cocoa and vanilla lingering. The lactose was very prominent and the chocolate is a bit on the subtle side. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Very nice.
