Description
We started brewing in February 2009 in the old loading bay of the former Tolly Cobbold Brewery in Ipswich on the Cliff Quay. The Tolly Brewery is located in the heart of the industrial dock area of Ipswich, and is a hugely historic site with brewing being carried out here since the 1700’s.

By 2012 it was becoming obvious that the old loading bay we were located in, which was not part of the Victorian brewery, was coming to the end of its natural life. So we took the reluctant decision to relocate. After much hard looking, we found a site in Debenham not far from our sister brewery in Earl Soham . This new site makes it much more logistical sense, so now we spend more time brewing and less time shuffling through the traffic between the 2 site.

Cask at Steamboat Tavern, Ipswich. Golden colour, thin white foam head and aroma of malt, grain, citric. Taste is malt, grain, straw, hay and citrusy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying bitter finish. Quite drinkable

20/7/2025. Cask at the Steamboat Tavern, Ipswich. Easy drinking flowery golden bitter, one I’ve had a few times in years gone by but not rated. So now I have. Has nice bitterness.

Bottle from Alder Carr Farm Shop, Needham Market. Clear amber coloured ale with a very small head. Bitter, but it's not quite as pronounced as the label on the bottle suggests as light tasting caramel malts subdue this. These are best in aroma.

Oldham Beer Festival 2023 but labelled there as Earl Soham Seadog.. Golden in colour with a mild hoppy-sweetness, although its strength is evident enough within the brew. Smoothish texture.

Hazy amber-orange with a very thin head. Has a low spiciness that comes across as citrus fruit, but with a low citrus value.

Cask @ Olde Bell & Steelyard, Woodbridge. Clear golden with a creamy head. Hoppy pale ale and light in character, but a tad thin for it. However, it's pleasant enough.
