Can during RBWG hotel lobby tasting night 1, 19/02/15 think I brought this one ? Clear amber with a decent beige covering. Nose is apple orchard, musty fruit tones, nutty, toffee. Taste comprises biscuit, apple pie, bitter orange, brown sugar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweet licks in the close. Bit of a mess.

Keg at the Weinhaus, Asheville, 17/02/15. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is pale malts, straw, caramel, light lemon vibe. Taste comprises citric peel, vanilla, light caramel, bready. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Adequate for style.

Can. Pours a clear brown with no head. The aroma is scotch and peat. Thin mouth with strong scotch, light smoke, a bit watery.

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a decent sized white head and average lace
Flavor: Tastes similarly, with clean German hops, grainy/cereal malts, lightly sweet and bitter
Palate: The body is light-medium, nice mouthfeel, not watery at all, clean and easy drinking
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid, enjoyable example of the style. The malt and hops are in a nice balance. It is not amazing, but I had no complaints.

Crisp, very slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thin half centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of malt, alcohol, lemons and a bit more citrus - interesting and fairly refreshing smelling. Light-bodied; Very sharp lemon and citrus flavours up front with only a touch of malt and complexity right afterwards. Aftertaste shows mostly the citrus - lemons and grapefruits and a touch of malt but a very light and airy beer with some slight sour notes as well. Overall, a fairly one-dimensional beer that is very nice for a hot summer day, but otherwise, it’s simplicity will make this too easy of a beer. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Cary, North Carolina for US$2,49 on 02-August-2014 sampled at home in Washington on 26-September-2014.

Rich, deep hazy brown coloured body with a very hazy glow of lighter brown at the bottom and a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nuts, alcohol, paint, pecans, earth and some milk - quite pungent. Medium-bodied; Assertive flavour of cherries, lemons, turpentine, grass, nuts, alcohol and toasted malt - all over the place, really. Aftertaste shows a complex melange of citrus, malts and caramelised sugars, naturally not making sense together, but working sort-of in a kind of funky mix. Overall, a decent beer with some odd flavours - some work and some don’t, but a decent beer to try if you like the style, since it’s atypical. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Cary, North Carolina on 02-August-2014 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 22-September-2014.
