Had this on tap at the bizarre Lido microbrewery on the outskirts of Riga in Nov 2004 it is housed in a wooden lodge complete with ice rink and kids entertainments quite possible the strangest micro brewery that I have ever been to. Golden colour slightly hazy, large white frothy head, some yeast and malt on the nose, quite tasty and refreshing I had a couple they went down well with some Latvian beer snacks.

The beer was fine, a bit malty, a touch sweet some hops there certainly ok.

Draught @ Alus Seta
Light lemon, malty aroma. Malty, sugary flavor, honey notes in the finish. Aftertaste has some hoppy (harsh) flavors. These Lido beers are not really top notch brews.

Draught @Staburgas
Hazy honey color, off-white medium head, lace. Malty, sweetish, sticky nose. Propably tap was not 100%? Crisp, malty, a bit harsh palate.

Sampled draught at Alus Seta, Riga

Medalus means "honey beer". Hazy dark straw colour with a thick, creamy head. Bad aroma like pears left sitting in the sun. Soft, smooth clean flavour. Hint of honeyish notes backdrop biscuity malts. Sweet finish that is slightly nutty. Inoffensive once you get past the nose.

Lively amber colour; gentle carbonation and dense head. Aroma has hints of malt and mustiness. Rather tart flavour - not objectionable, but odd for an amber lager. I had it at Stuburags, a Lido restaurant, so there’s no excuses if it was not meant to be sour. Plus, as I said, it worked. Oranges, fruity notes, maybe faint traces of malt round things out. Refreshing.
