Bottle. Fruity bready caramel malt aroma. Hazy orange amber with a moderat off-white head. Toasty vegetal malt, dry bitter herbal flavor. Medium body, astringent mouth feel.

Metallic citrus aroma. Nifty fun things floating around in a yellow beer. Flavor of mild lemon furniture polish, but in a good way, heheh. I’m liking these hinters more and more. Not bad for an over the sixer. Does not completely hide the bitterness but it comes across rather refreshing.

bottle - Pours near black with a tan head. It has a fairly mild roasted malt aroma. The flavor is of coffee and dark roast malt. The roast character leaves a lingering mild bitterness on the palate. This medium bodied brew is tasty and overall works quite well.

Tap at Old Fashioned. Hazy dulled orange-tan. Thin off-white head. Lots of carbonation. Big-time spice bomb. Lively, lacks subtlety. Peachy cinnamon, kind of intense and odd, though quite drinkable. Ginger, coriander, lemon. Unrefined.

Draft at Trion. Strong milk chocolate and sweet maple aroma. Deep chestnut with a small beige head. Maple and roasty earthy malt flavor. Medium body, flat carbonation.

Bottle at the Funky 8, Brooklyn, NYC. Quite spicy and herbal. Just a bit too sweet to be really good. Drinkable stuff as it is.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, smooth coffee grinds over grassy chocolate malt, powdery. In mouth, powdery chocolate with grassy notes, coffee grinds, medium bodied. On tap at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 19 2012.

Really excited to have received this in a trade. Enjoyed at fridge temperature in a snifter. Thanks a lot to my awesome trading partner. This beer was sealed with wax that took about 20 minutes to take off. I doubt that the brewer intended this Doppelbock to be cellared so what’s the point in waxing it?
A - Raisin brown but against the light, burnt dark brown. No head but a fine line of carbonation with some alright lacing.
S - Vanilla, cherries, oak and brown sugar dominate the nose.
T - Very sweet up front, hint of booziness but no ABV to back up that booziness that comes from the bourbon. Vanilla, maple syrup, candy corns and a healthy wheat backbone.
M - Medium body, light carbonation.
O - Identity crisis in a bottle. Who puts a Doppelbock in Bourbon? These guys I guess. all of the nice booziness you’d expect with nothing much to follow it up with.

I really like the packaging on these hinter pounder bottles. Fresh aroma and perhaps a hint of tartness may form on the olfactory. Slight haze on a brown tinted yallah beer. Wew, big bold dull hop taste impressions. mouth coating, could be an ipa in another life. Numbs the sides of your tongue. Yez, back there hiding someplace is a barely noticable shade of wildness behind the other complex arrangements. Very nice display of rolling sediment in the glass courtesy of the bottom of the bottle. They float in there like the beer was a gel er sumthin. Medicinal bitter finish for an ending. Wew, in your face personality going on here.

I love these rather large bottles of hinterland. Big pounder bottle, quite unique in packaging. I’ll give it any extra 0.1 out of 5 for the bottle glass. Nice interesting aroma which is clean yet hint of tartness in the olfactory. Some bitter bite but it fades during the session. Decent kick without an in your face alky rudeness. Goes down with a litlle bit of a hinderance, oops, I mean hinterness, heheh. Yes, perhaps more hops than I care for ina fest. Somewhat medium dull bitter finish. Perhaps a little clying at times, maybe an old bottle, a few months.
