Description
The Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery leads the Craft Beer Revolution in Ontario. Brewing radical Beers and creative Ales right on the waterfront in downtown Barrie since 2004, the Flying Monkeys was the first Ontario Craft Brewery to truly recognize the need to overthrow the conservative regime of macro-brews and timid small batch taste-a-likes and create a new Culture of Craft Brewing in our province.

Casting off the comfortable and respectable cloak of the Robert Simpson Brewing Company, and revealing our true selves as the Flying Monkeys late in 2008, we gave rise to the the collective creativity of our Brewery and committed our Brewhouse to the adventurous longings of the growing culture of Craft Beer Lovers in Ontario.

A real coast to coast Canadian collaboration. Copper brown body with a dense, pillowy off-white head. The nose is rich with malt, brown sugar, bubble gum and spritz of lemon. This seems to be about right for a Canadian attempt at an imperial ESB. There is a rich, dark cereal malt which works well with the earthy UK hops (more hops than a European version, I’m guessing). A touch of pepper, citrus and dark fruit, along with some caramel sweetness round out a well balanced taste profile. A solid mouth feel and body cap a very tasty creation.

Solid monkey business. Really hits the mark with a frothy off-white head and a lovely orange-brown body. The nose is fresh, highlighting sweet malts with some spiciness and soft fruit. The first impact is the fuzzy effervescence, which could be toned down a bit. Belgian hops, a touch of sweet syrupiness, tropical fruit including kiwi, orange, a touch of pepper and soft underpinning malts come together to be a top notch Imperial.

Gold with a haze and a frothy, white head. Aroma of candied tropical fruitsβ€”mostly papaya and oranges. Moderate dank. Taste is mildly orange pith bitter with that candied, juicy sweetness dominating the middle. Almost herbal at the end. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, smooth. Very juicy indeed. Nice!

From the labirratorium, Madrid, openint yesterday, at my rentd loft at Santa Clara, Sevilla. A rather classical ipa with a touch of white ipa. This one is rather dry with some piney and fruity notes, herbal at the final, a bit watery, bitter and citrus, 02.12.21

Slightly hazy dark golden color with a medium bone white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Piney hops, citrus and malt in the nose. medium body with flavors of resiny hop, grapefruit and roast malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.
