The Spoetzl Brewery - named after its original brewmaster Kosmos Spoetzl, was founded in Shiner, Texas in 1909; hence their brand name for their beers - Shiner. Spoetzl is the oldest independent brewery in the State of Texas that began its storied history by brewing beer with old-world traditions and recipes for the many German and Czech settlers in the state. Since then, the brewery has grown to be one of the leading independent brewers in the country. The brewery is 100% family-owned and is a certified craft brewery by the Brewer’s Association. Every drop of Shiner is proudly brewed in Shiner.

Peach and almond nose, clove accents. Crystal clear garnet brown, thin tan head. Peach and pecan, vague spice, maybe clove. Medium body, harsh mouthfeel. Neat idea, I dig it.

Bottle from Teeter. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma is lightly floral, rye, hay. Flavor is rye, hay, black pepper. Very bready. Gimme some spinach dip and I'm set.

12 oz bottle into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip at my daughters in California on 3rd Jan 2017. lovely looking beer, red bodied, clear and clean, on top a tanned head (which sadly fell away to a wisp and collar very quickly). If a it had been a blind tasting I would have said pumpkin and rye were used in the brew and even though I knew there were peaches and pecans within I couldn't detect them. I had to 'google' “Kräusening”, so now I know! I actually liked it's aroma, flavour and sweetness. I found it both interesting and different compared to many 'holiday beers'.

Bottle sent by Shiner for my comment. When poured, it has a slightly more amber body than a typical lager. A single finger layer of foam that settles in just a minute or so. The smell is kind of a mix of hops, with some pine under the cap. The taste is like an IPA, with a clear intent to American hops, but not much of a slap in the face. Pine and resin hit the forefront, but then there’s also a note of rose, then a thread of pineapple. Some bitterness comes more from fresh oak than from hops, it seems. Which makes it leave more of an aftertaste than hops by themselves. The slightly elevated alcohol is noticed, too, in the form of a slight warming.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark coppery brown with a slight beige head. Aroma of nice coffee. Near med body. Flavor is nice coffee, but it's all thinnish - both body and flavor. Needs more malt.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tart with citric aid and lemon. The flavor was tart, tangy and salty with crisp lemon and citric acid. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid.

This pours from 12oz bottle a clear amber with a very small head of foam that recedes rapidly.
The smell is of sweet malt, some roastiness, and some hop.
The taste has a good biscuit malt flavour up front with a more than ample hop bitterness that moves in about midway through. When I swish it in my mouth, I taste some earthy and roasted malt notes and overall, this is a pretty good tasting little beer and I find it's quite quaffable.
The mouthfeel is medium light, the carbo is medium, and it finishes fairly dry. I'd buy this again, no problem.
