A hazy orange beer with almost no head. The aroma is sweet malty with some hints of hops. The flavor is sweet grassy and hoppy. Quite average.

A blond bock. Ordinary bock aroma, ordinary bock taste. Some malt, sweet. A fairly good beer.

Thanks to Goldtwins for this one. Bottle #1033 This is one of Flying dogs better efforts. Big, bold and hoppy, this starts with a deep gold pour that provides plenty of malt and hop aroma. Some sweetness and alcohol, but overall not too shabby.

Bottle Grassy nose. Drank from bottle, but the beer Nor spilled over the table looked good. Light body, pine and grass hop notes.

Great amber shade up top with a lighter orange glow to the bottom, all with a frothy tan head and rising bubbles throughout. Beautiful, and I never thought i’d say that about a Flying Dog beer!! Aroma of strong malt, caramel, raisins, sugars and a subtle nuttiness. Light to Medium-bodied; Syrupy thickness in the mouth with a pleasant maltiness sticking you up front. After that a nutty bitterness from the malt appears and won’t go away. The middle taste is very nice and shows some real character-spice, caramel and a tiny amount of low a.a. hops. Overall, about what I was expecting, a way that Flying Dog screwed up this beer somehow! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 17-December-2004.

I found a place selling this for 7.99, which is the only reason I bought it since I’ve never been terribly impressed with Flying Dog - nice packing - the label appears to have the number 3006 hand-written on the label, so I guess that’s its bottle number - a very nice burnt copper pour with frothy head that lasts a considerable amount of time - piney aroma, with lots of resinous hops, grapefruit, some malt and slight alcohol - barleywine-like combination of malt and hops - toffee and caramel wrestle with a high hop profile, melting into citrus, followed by bready characteristics - a hint of spice in the finish and a lot of lingering hops - so flying dog can make a good beer - this is very similar to DFH 90 Minute IPA and Stone Ruination, but not really any better than those, which means that, though it is really good, it doesn’t really warrant its typical pricetag.

Bottle at the Syracuse Holiday Brewfest Dec.04 2004. Golden ale, with absolutely no hops in aroma, more malty. Malty and lactic, not too much to write home about.

Bottle #3683. Sampled at marinaro500’s post-Thanksgiving gathering, provided by me. Well, this ended up being my last rating of the evening because of an intense episode of the hiccups (this always happens to me). Cloudy orangish body, thin/medium cream head. Heavy earthy, piney aroma. Very sweet caramely body with plenty of earthy, piney hops. Pretty intense but very typical of I2PAs and American Strong Ales. Considering it’s a Flying Dog brew, though, this was pretty good. But, please, let’s move beyond these heavily hopped beers and come up with a new trend (don’t mention barrel aging either...)!

Bottle Pours a redish brown hazy and a very thick dense light tan head that just wont go away. Thick creamy lacing. Aroma is a quite strong citrus hops. Flavor is a very stong, harsh heavy flowery citrusy hops. Very heavy body and feel. Almost like syrup. Fumes of pepermint menthalyptus and grapefruit zest. A complex, busy, heavy beer that I’m sure the "hop-heads" will lke. Too much for me though
