Mahogany brown colour with thin head. Intense aroma of malt and fruit cake. Flavour is sweet with dried fruits. Almost a sweet spiciness. Very rich. Pleasant bitterness in the aftertaste gives balance.

Foamy white head left a spotty cover on a clear pale golden coloured body. Sweet citrus, floral & hoppy aroma. Medium bodied, smooth on the with lively back & sticky aft. Sweet citrus, mango, peach & grapefruit tastes with a long tangy finish. That's excellent from this upmarket supermarket.

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Clear brown coloured with a small off-white head. Quite floral in character, although there’s a few roasted malts in here, however the fusion of both is quite strange. Its tropical fruit is most evident in its nose.

500ml bottle from Booths in Windermere - Deep mahogany brown body, thin off white head. Nose is thick piney resin, some tart tropical fruits, grapefruit and strong citrus. A bit thin in the body, but the taste is great. Long bitter finish goes on forever, giving the kumquat and spruce flavour a massive boost. I’d struggle to find a supermarket beer as good.

Brewed by Hawkshead. Very dark brown with thin lacy head. Strong aroma of fruity and piney hops. Quite a rich and oily feel. Very full flavoured with plenty of hop bitterness up front but with some dark dried fruits to balance. The finish has some roast malt bitterness.

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Dark chestnut-red in colour with a very thin head. Has dark malts, some winter fruit in its nose, maybe some winter fruit in its taste too but it’s quite a gritty effort from the brewer that includes a bitterness.

Bottle. Booths, Ilkley. Clear, dark red. Film, and a few bubbles of beige head. Lots of peachy fruit. Some grapefruit. Blackcurrant. Roast malt behind that. Plenty of liquorice. Taste is soft bitter, with some sweet, to start. Turns a little dry, whilst the bitterness rises. Smooth palate. Soft carbonation. Finishes moderate, lingering bitter. Opened up as it warmed. Tasty and very drinkable.
