Pours dark amber with a large quickly fading head.Nose shows lots of fruity hops: pineapple, mango and orange blossom are all noticeable. A fair bit of caramel, toasted and nutty malt shows as well.Flavours almost perfectly mirror the aroma - lots of light fruity hops with caramel, toasted and nutty malt following.Moderate carbonation suits the beer well.

Bottle, about 10C. Red-tinged amber with a small but tight beige head. Quite high bead, nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, wine, grass and flowers. Taste is mostly sweet with modest bitterness. The wine character is noticeable is odd but quite pleasant. It’s just a touch and adds a syrupy contrast to the otherwise straightforward malt as well as a little sourness. Unusual and pretty well done, but I could have done with a bit of bitterness to keep it from getting a bit dull.

Bottle. Clear gold with little head. Aroma is slightly vegetably hops with a fruity hint. Light body with medium carbonation. Flavour is thin and watery with a fruity start combined with a somewhat artificial candy sweetness. There is some botterness in the finish but it is rather unpleasantly metallic. Overall disappointing.

Pours amber with a large but quickly fading head.Nose shows light noble hops with spicy and grassy notes. Faint banana shows initially but quickly fades. Biscuity, slightly toasty Munich malt is noticeable, but a slightly disagreeable sweet vegetable note is also present.More biscuity malt as a flavour and, unfortunately, more of the sweet vegetable note. Spicy hops just detectable.Carbonation is too high, body too light.

Pale gold, white head. Smells of wheat, flowers and weeds. Taste is much the same with some quite subtle malt sweetness and touches of citrus and metal. Decent thirst-quencher. I remember when this was a revelation, but there you go.

Bottle, 4.7% ABV. Orange, off white head fades to a coat. Nose has biscuity malt and a little grass and resin. Taste is mildly sweet with a slightly bitter finish. A little metallic. A pleasant enough made-for-gulping beer.

From a 345ml lottle on 24/1/2010. Has quite a distinct floral, fruity aroma, which is reflected to some extent in the flavours which present on consumption. It’s downfall is that the truckloads of hops mentioned on the bottle don’t fully materialise, thus making it slightly too sweet, and a little one dimensional than it should be. Quite drinkable, but not a patch on Matilda Bay’s Alpha Pale Ale. Total score 3.1.
Re-rate on 12/5/2011 (bottle): Think I was just a bit generous with my previous rating. This is certainly on the bland side for an APA and just okay. However, it is curiously tastes heaps better on tap (more like 3.3-3.4). Rating 3.
Re-rate 29/2/2016. Bought a case when I couldn’t find my regulars at a decent price. A touch more underwhelming than I recall. Again, it usually tastes quite a bit better out of the tap.

From a 345ml bottle on 6/1/2010. Has a nice citrus, herbal aroma and an almost creamy feel to it. Great fruity, spicy flavour, with a nice sweet/sour balance. Overall, a commendable hoppy, refreshing pale ale.

Bottle. Clear bright rose colour with no head. Aroma is a mix of candy and raspberries and quite pleasant. Palate is good - light with modertate carbonation. The flavour is sweet, but defintely not too sweet. It has a fair fruity taste with reasonable balancing tartness. It’s an OK Frambozen, but not a great one. It lacks complexity, depth and particularly boldness in both the fuit and the malt. Then again, the restraint means that this is not trying to be an alco-pop.
