Pours a nice clear mahogany from a tap, cream colored head has some lacing. Malty, light wheat toast aroma. Slightly bitter but mostly sweet. Good beer.

22 oz. bottle purchased at Julio's Liquors. And like a rookie, I didn't check the date. Bottled on 6- 28-17. How was this still in Julio's cooler? Ok, I will keep an opened mind here because I have to give a score. Orange/ deep hazy golden color with lasting head retention. Aroma is huge caramel malt and light flaked oats. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy but unfortunately, the hop profile is nearly dead here. Just a mild herbal bitterness.
Clearly the buyers fault for not checking the date. And Julio's mistake for letting it sit in the cooler so long. A caramel influenced mess at this point.

From old tasting notes. Hazy brassy gold color. Small white head. Fruity malt nose. Soft semisweet toasted malt flavor hints at orange peel and honey. Very fruity and refreshing.

Draught at Casa Verde, 5/31/17.
Lightly hazy, dark, brassy-gold with a medium-sized, white head showing moderately-low retention.
Fresh pepper flesh in the nose greets the senses, with light tropical fruit and moderate citrus notes alongside it, as lightly sweet malts add honey and bits of cracker to balance gently. No resin or alcohol and very low on the pineapple; you can’t tell between hop and actual fruit. Pepper is certainly front and center, though I don’t think it completely dominates. That will certainly be up to the individual drinker’s preference for spicy pepper character, though. Otherwise, clean, with ample hops and no alcohol noted.
Bright and peppery, with mild but lightly spicy heat and well-done tropical fruit notes from the hops. Malts are very biscuity, with light cereal suggestions, that really create quite a bit of depth. Perhaps it’s a touch on the sweeter side, though it definitely balances the heat, in that regard. Carbonation is moderate, fairly engaging and no flaw or alcohol is noted. As with most pepper beers, the pepper is quite apparent and this will hinge on whether or not you enjoy peppers. However, here the actual heat (and hop bitterness) is very low, so as long as you don’t mind the flavor, the heat won’t bother you.

Black with a tall tan head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malts with some vanilla and light earth tones. Medium creamy body. Flavor follows the aroma with a higher amount of noticeable vanilla, but not annoyingly so- this is not a vanilla porter, thankfully. Good balance of sweetness with coffee.

Enjoyed on tap at Thirsty First in Lowell, MA while on a tour, unfortunately didn’t take tasting notes while I had this, but I remember this being very good, dry, and robust. Would have again.
