Cask, gravity at The Old Oak, Rurad Bar, Horsely Woodhouse, Derbyshire in the company of Loz, Simon, Mrs H, my dad and Pauline 23-01-09 Pours reddy brown off white head, quite dark in this pub so a little tricky to be certain on the colour. Aroma is a touch sweet with some marzipan, seaside rock, and cane sugar, much of this was also present in the mouth. I quite liked this beer but the sweet maltiness became a little much at times, nice warmth from the alcohol. A6 A4 F6 P3 OV13 3.2

Cask gravity at London Drinker BF 08. Black with thin beige head. Slightly choccy, some heat from alcohol. OK, that’s an impy stout. That woke me up from a mid afternoon lull. A little lacking in fullness in the mouth. Lots of beautiful dark choc on finish. Somewhat bitter, but not harsh. The dark choc on the finish is excellent. Settle down into a very subtle impy stout with an almost liquid 70% cocoa dark choc. This gets better as you drink it. Lovely.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 20/11/07. Pale amber colour with a slight white head. Grassy Hop aroma with some cinnamon and sweet malt. Flavour was dominated by grassy, chunky hops with a hint of spice and a decent bitter finish. Good as a one off, but no session beer.

Cask gravity at Nottingham BF 2007. Very dark brown. Decent mild. Very mild in fact. Nice malts, a little thin as you would expect. Good condition. Pretty good for the style. Bit of stilton cheese flavour.
