Description
The brewery was founded in 2005 by four home brewers who wanted to make high quality beers. In 2016 two of the original founders retired, and the brewery is today owned by a constellation of the two remaining founders, some employees at the brewery and three other Norwegian craft breweries.

Haandbryggeriet currently has 10 employees all participating in developing new ground breaking beers and recipes.

The brewery has a wide selection ranging from classic and traditional beers to new and innovative brews and hybrid beer styles. Sometimes brewed with local and Nordic ingredients such as cherries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, and lingonberries. Haandbryggeriet has since 2005 also made high quality sours and barrel aged beers such as porters and Christmas beers.

Can @office as Julepils. Clear dark golden to copper body under a moderate sized tan head. Aroma is malt, caramel, bread and wort. The taste is medium sweet malt, grain, bread, caramel and balanced bitterness. Balanced body as well with the same aftertaste as the main taste. Nice, refreshing, tasty straight forward Vienna lager. This style is quite common for classic Christmas beer in Norway and will match most of our typical Christmas food including Grandiosa pizza.

November 2013: 500 ml bottle, batch #643, from the brewery. ABV is 8.5%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate tan head. Started drinking it a bit too cold. The aroma is first surprisingly moderate, some mild roasty and spicy notes. Improves as the beer warms up a little. Smooth mouthfeel and flavour. Mild notes of caraway and liquorice, on a base of lightly roasted malts. Enjoyable.

Rerate, 500 ml can, as HaandBryggeriet / Kinn Old School Best Coast IPA, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Slightly hazy brown colour, moderate off-white head. Piney hops and some orange in the aroma. The flavour has the impression as first sample, very bitter aftertaste. I'm keeping the score.

Original rating:On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Copper colour, moderate white head. Piney hops in the aroma. The flavour has a distinct hop bitterness throughout, sufficient malts but not very sweet, notes of grapefruit.
