Description
The brewery was founded in 2005 by four home brewers who wanted to make high quality beers. In 2016 two of the original founders retired, and the brewery is today owned by a constellation of the two remaining founders, some employees at the brewery and three other Norwegian craft breweries.

Haandbryggeriet currently has 10 employees all participating in developing new ground breaking beers and recipes.

The brewery has a wide selection ranging from classic and traditional beers to new and innovative brews and hybrid beer styles. Sometimes brewed with local and Nordic ingredients such as cherries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, and lingonberries. Haandbryggeriet has since 2005 also made high quality sours and barrel aged beers such as porters and Christmas beers.

Rerate, 500 ml bottle, batch #444, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Hazy golden colour, huge white head. Pleasant strong and typical hefeweizen aroma of cloves and ripe bananas. The flavour has also distinct notes of cloves and more moderate notes of banana, not too sweet. Like with most h.w.s there is not much bitterness. This is the best Norwegian-brewed hefeweizen widely available (not that there are very many ...). Original rating: Bottle conditioned, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting (courtesy of the brewery). Murky / cloudy pale brown colour. Lots of sediment in the bottle. Typical hefe aroma, cloves and ripe bananas. Yeasty flavour with cloves, a bit more hops than in many other hefes.

Bottle conditioned, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting (courtesy of the brewery). Lovely hoppy aroma (Cascade?), notes of grapefruit and very subtle oak. Flavour is somewhat less impressive, fairly light bodied and bitterness is not overwhelming - still, this is another decent beer from Haandbryggeriet.

Rerate, 500 ml bottle, batch #433, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Some sediment in the bottle. Hazy pale golden colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of Belgian ale yeast and spices, particularly coriander (which indeed is an ingredient). Also some fruity notes. Light and pleasant mouthfeel for its strength. The flavour is distinctly spicy (coriander again), but not overdone. Some fruit again. Moderate hops in the finish. Original rating: Bottle conditioned, RBESG 2005, Grand Tasting (courtesy of the brewery). Golden colour, low head. Yeasty aroma, notes of fruits (esp. raisins) and oak, flavour is oaky and raisiny with a certain alcoholic punch. Not bad at all.

A muddy brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by caramel, but also contains some lesser notes of wheat. The flavor is wheaty combined with caramel, and is slightly roasted. The mouthfeel is very carbonated. I’ve had better Dunkelweizens, but thanks to Haandbryggeriet for supplying this to RBESG.

An orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet ans slightly flowery, intertwined with light notes of caramel. The flavor is very simple - with some hops as well as some grassy notes, and a dry end. Not enough hops to make my day - it is British in its IPA interpretation.

Hazy brown, small tanned head. Smokey weizen nose. Crisp, citrusy, roasted and wheaty. Balanced example of this style. for such a new brewery, very clean brew.
