Description
John and Jen are proud to announce that they have taken over the on-site Bluebell Brewery as of Spring 2016.
Operating from a former potato packing shed, the idea of setting up a micro brewery was conceived 12 years ago by two friends – one a head brewer, the other a publican. This proved a successful combination and the brewery grew both in reputation and production, collecting several awards along the way for it’s fine real ales.
Our aim is to continue to grow the brewery, only ever using the very best quality ingredients and to supply mainly local retail and private customers, maintaining a high level of product integrity and customer service.

Gravity poured third of a pint at the CAMRA Peterborough Beer Festival on 24th Aug 2016. Guess what colour it was: correct, golden, white wispy head. Nicely balanced blend with subtle flavours (or weak if being unkind): easy drinking session ale for quaffing in a pub beer garden under a lazy sun.

Gravity poured third of a pint at the CAMRA Peterborough Beer Festival on 24th Aug 2016. Copper/amber body, wispy off-white head. Bitter from the start, this is a hop led brew with very little malt influence in either the nose or flavour. Liked it.

Handpull cask from the Five Bells, Tydd St Mary. Light brown with a bit of a reddish hue. Almost clear and a decent-sized off-white head. Sour, woody smell with hazelnut and a bit of fresh grass. Taste is sour and at first extremely bitter, however the bitterness fades with time and finds an agreeable balance over the course of the pint. Long finish. Caramel and turpentine in the aftertaste. Body is thin but it works for this recipe. Pretty good sessionable bitter.

Gravity poured half-pint on 26th Aug 2015 at the Peterborough Beer Festival. Mid-brown body with a decent off-white crown on top. Malty front in the nose and taste, semi-sweet with the malts leading the flavour throughout. The hops just stop the beer running away with it’s malty backbone too much.

Bottle from local coop supermarket. Slight cloudiness from the conditioning. But the beer had a acidic taste. Below par.

Cask. A dark chestnut colored beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of caramel as well as medium notes of alcohol and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and fruits, leading to a dry and nutty finish.
