About
Inspired by local brewing traditions and the vibrant US craft beer scene, Magic Rock Brewing is the culmination of a lifelong passion for beer. Richard Burhouse (aided by head brewer Stuart Ross) started the brewery in 2011 in an old out-building of the family business in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Alongside a distinctive core range we produce an ever changing line up of idiosyncratic beers with an innovative quality driven approach. Our ‘Same but Different’ beers are packed with intense yet approachable flavours which will challenge and inspire, but above all remain balanced and drinkable.
In 2022 Lion breweries sold Magic Rock In Good Company Brewing, who intern sold it to Keystone Brewing Group in 2025, and most recently to The Great British Drinks Company in 2026.

Draught @ CASK Pub & Kitchen, 6 Charlwood Street, London, Greater London, England SW1V 2EE.Murky matt medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, grapefruit, orange - citrus. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, mango, tropical fruit, pineapple notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110807]

Keg at CP&K. It pours deep orange, with a thick off-white head. The nose is pine, herbal, orange citrus fruits and spice (akin to Persian flatbread). The taste is zesty orange, mango, apricot, sweet tangerine, tangy marmalade, resin, pine grass, leather and alcohol warmth, with a long bitter finish. Medium to full body and fine carbonation. Nice.

Cask at Euston Tap, London. A black coloured pour with a small beige head on top. Roasty, malty aroma. Tastes roasty, chocolate, coffee, slight bitterness, rich tasting. A satisfying well balanced stout from Magic Rock.

Cask (handpump) @ Southampton Arms, RBESG Weekend, 139 Highgate Road, London, Greater London, England NW5 1LE.Clear medium to dark red amber colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, grass, orange - citrus, dusty hops, moderate grapefruit nad pine. Initial flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter, finish flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110806]

Cask, gravity at Harbury Beer Festival, Harbury, Warwickshire, 03.09.11 Reddy brown apperance with a little haze. Some perfume on the nose but continuing whiffs suggest plenty of citrus hops, and that is exactly what the mouth experienced. Fresh, zingy, fresh green hops, lovely bitterness. This is superb beer despite the hazy appearance. A8 A3 T9 P4 Ov17 4.1

(Cask at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London, 21 July 2011) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, black coffee and dark rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, black coffee, liquorice, dark rye bread and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body with a certain sweetness. Excellent stout.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London, 21 July 2011) Golden colour with foamy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus and lots of grapefruit. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, lemon peel, grapefruit, grass and generous amounts of citrussy hops in a bitter finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Generous hop character. Very nice and tasty.
