In 2014 opgericht door Ward Venstra en Sander van Engelen. In 2016 vonden we een unieke locatie voor ons brouwcafé. In 2017 pitchten we onze plannen voor een kleinschalige brouwerij met proeflokaal en samen met de oprichters van Bar Joost hebben we vervolgens de krachten gebundeld. Ons brouwcafé opende in augustus van 2018 haar deuren in het Insulinde Huisje op het Cruqiuseiland. In februari van 2020 koppelde Bruut zich los van de Brouwerij in het Insulinde huisje, die onder de naam Krux verder gaat. Sander van Engelen gaat met Bruut verder als brouwerijhuurder.

In 2022 opende Bruut haar nieuwe brouwerij aan de Spaklerweg 1F.

Speciaalbier is onze passie. Bruut brouwt niet normaal lekker bier met extra veel aandacht voor bierkwaliteit. Onze bieren worden gemaakt in een brouwerij met de modernste brouwtechnologie. Zo kunnen we voldoen aan de kwaliteit waar de markt om vraagt. Het vernieuwen en optimaliseren van onze bieren is een continu proces. Hierbij kunnen we rekenen op technologische adviezen van Biercentrum Delvaux, het toonaangevende kenniscentrum en laboratorium voor ambachtelijke speciaalbieren.

Bruut heeft smaakvolle bieren van de beste kwaliteit. Al onze core-bieren worden in Amsterdam ontwikkeld en gebrouwen bij Brouwerij Anders! (BE) die beschikt over een hightech Duitse GEA-brouwzaal. We brouwen daardoor met de modernste brouwtechnologie wat van beslissende invloed is op de kwaliteit van Bruut bier.

Pours hazy blonde. Medium white head. Smell is bit hoppy, malty. Taste can use more dryhop. Sharp and intense bitter. I truly hope they don't wanna market this as a NEIPA.... hops are not tropical, more spiced, green, almost herbal hops with a punch. Ok beer.

Draught, beer flight, at Tap Zuid. Close-to-clear warm golden body, rich lacing, film-type layer at the top. Rather inviting smell of herbal hops, citrus and mid-sweet malts. Rounded hop fruity taste, moments of peaches and orange, lightly spiced. Mid-sweet malt-fruity finish. Soft and smooth in the mouth. Well hidden alcohol. Nice. (Amsterdam 08.03.2018).

Draught, beer flight, at Tap Zuid. A filmy layer blanketing the glass. Pale golden body, cloudy. Dusty hops on the nose. citric hints. Taste of ripe lemony hops added by malted wheat. Mid-dry bitter tail. Refreshing, easy to drink. Just alright. (Amsterdam 08.03.2018).

33cl bottle from Beer52.com. A bright straw coloured pour with a billowing white head; yeasty aroma with traces of citrus and farmyard; strong grainy taste with more farmyard touches and a peppery bitterness to finish. A pleasant Saison.

33cl bottle from Beer52. A slightly hazy pale amber pour with a thin white head; slightly muddled tropical fruit aroma, with pienapple, mango and melon; sharp grapefruity taste, with a mewllow fruity bitterness, and a long finish.

Clear golden beer, nice white head.light, malty aroma. Goes downhill from there.taste is bitter and.... watery and meh. Bleh. Not dreadful just barely even a thing.

Very pale yellow beer with a white, bubbly head. Light, bready smell with a waft of citrus. taste is light and bready with some dry, grassy citrus and a bit of a spicy, floral air to it. Very crisp and clean-tasting, this would be right on the money on a hot summery day.
