Description
Penn Brewery began brewing craft beer back in 1986, making us one of the earliest pioneers in the American craft movement. We started out brewing classic lagers and German beer styles, adhering to the strict quality standards of the 16th-century Bavarian Reinheitsgebot purity laws. As we’ve expanded our lineup in recent years to include IPAs and other contemporary styles like chocolate and pumpkin beers, we’ve stayed true to our quality craftsmanship, brewing all of our beers by hand with top-tier barley and hops. We’re proud to say that Penn beers have won a total of twenty Great American Beer Festival® and World Beer Cup® medals.

I never like to be the first to rate a beer. Look, I hate imperial stout so if my numbers are low, that means its better. On tap at JR's. It presents itself to you like big, dark, large, & in-charge. Aroma is good appetizing malty chocolate aroma. Taste is not as rude as many imperial stouts; the alky content is well hidden in the smoothness of it. Mouth coating bitter coffee roasted medicinal chocolate bitter coffee and malt.

Crowler from JRs, $3, heh. Big black and bubbly, same on the tongue. Lots and lots of coffee in looks smell and taste, fer sure. If it looks like coffee, tastes like coffee, smells liek coffee, then it must be beer! Not bad, impressive, almost baltic, but not. Yes, quite a big black experience. Goes here there and everywhere. Tell yah what, you get your moneys worth. Comes across a little more refined than local craft porter. May be awake all night after this. Cold black coffee, what else can be said? Except, just maybe there is some milk stout in the end.
