Description
Penn Brewery began brewing craft beer back in 1986, making us one of the earliest pioneers in the American craft movement. We started out brewing classic lagers and German beer styles, adhering to the strict quality standards of the 16th-century Bavarian Reinheitsgebot purity laws. As we’ve expanded our lineup in recent years to include IPAs and other contemporary styles like chocolate and pumpkin beers, we’ve stayed true to our quality craftsmanship, brewing all of our beers by hand with top-tier barley and hops. We’re proud to say that Penn beers have won a total of twenty Great American Beer Festival® and World Beer Cup® medals.

Tap a week ago at industry public house robinson. Smells like many other chocolate stouts. Big & black. Mild chocolate flavors. Almost like nestlee’s quick. Tasty & quite enjoyable, better than expected. Could drink a couple of these. Good overall chocolate experience. Smooth creamy palate as well. Good Pgh beer.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured an almost black color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy tan head that left good lacing. The aroma was toasty, dryish and a bit dusty with light roasty malts. The flavor was slightly bitter, toasty, a touch roasty and dryish with hints of coffee and vanilla. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid for style.

Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a black color with a large foamy dark tan head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was very strong cocoa, cookie dough and marzipan. The flavor was strong cocoa, vanilla, marzipan, cookie dough and was somewhat sweet. Long cocoa and cookie dough finish. Moderately full bodied. Interesting.
