Medium beige-brown creamy lasting head. Opaque black body. Light roasty caramelly aroma with mealy notes. Dry-sweet roasty mealy caramelly taste with oaty burnted notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, milky, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish roasty licorice aftertaste with burnted minty notes. Traces of coffee and fruit, too. (0.33l draft at Sunset Beer Garden, Sendai, Japan.)

Medium creamy offwhite head. Hazy opaque pale amber body. Faint mealy fruity aroma. Dry-sweet resiny taste with mealy fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish grape and resin aftertaste with mealy strawberry notes. Nice, pleasant, but not great. (0.33l draft at Sunset Beer Garden, Sendai.)

Dark beige head, fast gone over virtually black beer; shards of lace. (Wal)nutty, but also hazelnuts, perfumed in a very good way; roasted aromas. Sweet, liquorice, roasted nuts, black rice, walnuts. Not really well-bodied, but quite grist-slick. Not bad, just a tad too timid and sweet.

Got this hard to find can from Kabutomushi. Dark, very cloudy orange-amber, low head disappearing quickly. Nice aroma of citrus hops and rich caramel malts, bit of chocolate and peaches. Flavor is thick and rich, yeasty and fruity wwith decent bitterness. Still malt dominated, but better thaj their regular PA. Drinkable stuff.

Hazy golden coloured body with a very thin and fast-dying white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, curacao, dough and a bit of funk. Medium-bodied; Great full mouthful with a lot of wheat and banana flavours coming through, a touch of clove and coriander seed and a little sweetness on the tail end from bubble gum. Aftertaste nice and refreshing with a little spices, but mostly sweet and bright flavours to show off. Overall, a nice beer for sure, great to sample and one for sure that if I didn’t know where it came from - I would have guessed Germany - a nice beer, especially for the country of origin and the style. I sampled this 300 mL bottle purchased at CitySuper! Grocery Store in Hong Kong (two IFC) on 10-August-2010 sampled at home on the other side of the world in Washington on 31-March-2011 - after the horrible events on 11-March-2011 in Japan - I figured I’d round out the month by drinking this in honour. Good luck to you Japan.

33 cl bottle at Deiutsches Haus Ramstein. Pale yellow color, thick white head. Not much aroma, only faint bitterness. Plain and boring. Perfect for the German beer market.

Blue bottle. Milky yellow, low head. Spicy aroma quite a bit of clove. Perfumed sweet. Lost some carbonation when we opened it. A bit unclean, over bb date?
