Squid ink, huh. It’s not black, but still hilarious. Tap. Cloudy pale bluegreen, head vanishes almost immediately. Aroma is wheaty and sour with some mouldering grapefruit. High carbonation, mouthfeel is maybe a little heavy but certainly has a convincing slipperiness. Wheaty and moderately sour, but with no zingy brett notes. Pretty refreshing but that lack of bite detracts. Is there a little brininess (and maybe even a touch of meatiness) or is that suggestion?

Pours hazy gold with a large head.Nose shows heavy coriander and a fair bit of citrus peel too. Underneath is doughy wheat. Almost floral.Very similar flavours, more of the same except with a bit of booze and an assertive bitterness.Too much carbonation, but that’s a small fault.

Growler, 11C. Dark brown with a large beige head. Aroma of chocolate, bananas, lemon, oranges, spices. First sniff is all sweet and fruity, then citrus hops really blast through. Silky mouthfeel. Alcohol is dangerously well-hidden. Sweet chocolate, caramel, banana, some light tropical fruits swept aside by bitter orange and lemon. Fine finish is hoppy, dry and a little salty, but disjointed with what came before. Interesting and fun though.

Growler. Orangish amber with an off-white head that laces well. Aroma of sweet oranges, lemon, mandarin. Oily mouthfeel. Bittersweet with lots of citrus flavours, a little pine and pepper. Long bitter finish. Nothing gets in the way.

Tap. Almost black with a dense beige head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt, caramel, grapefruit, lychees, spices. Taste has moderate caramel sweetness, cocoa, citrus and salt. Odd spice notes at the end - prickly ash? - that I wasn’t so keen on. Alcohol totally hidden. Almost odd for the sake of it, but it hangs together quite well. A little like salty toffee dusted with cocoa.

Growler, this year’s version is 7.5%ABV. Cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma of banana, vanilla, coriander, lemony herbs (presumably lemon myrtle). Taste is quite sweet with _lots_ of coriander and a lemon myrtle pepperiness in a drying finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Spices linger for ages. A little lemony sourness would have made it even better. Very dangerous beer on a warm evening.

Bottle thanks to daveA330. Pours with a hazy white-yellow hued body with a white head that slowly fades. Aromas of lemongrass, pepper, pine, windex, tropical fruit, perfume, florals, esters and orange blossom. Flavors of vanilla, a bready malt profile, floral, rose water, orange. Very flowery. Medium bubbles, somewhat creamy mouthfeel, finishes decently dry. A tasty and somewhat different wit.
