Description
SingleCut Beersmiths was founded by Queens/NYC born, music-obsessed brewer Rich Buceta, whose life-long passions led to a place where hops and vinyl could shine side by side. After years of homebrewing and professional stints around NYC, Rich was true to his dream, diving headfirst into the brewing world. “My obsession is creating original hop-driven beer; distinguished by a firm respect and admiration for West Coast pioneers, and bending that to our East Coast / NYC interpretation.” Since opening in 2012, and with the help of an equally talented and devoted team, SingleCut has gained a loyal following throughout the East-Coast’s most respected markets. With his steadfast determination for the perfect pint, Rich penned "Mastery Knows No Shortcut" as the SingleCut mission statement. “It boils down to always demanding greatness, never compromising, and always play it at maximum volume.”

Very hazy and super pure golden coloured body with a pretty thick, three to four centimetre tall just off-white head that's microfoamed and tops the beer nicely for a long time, all above the 85 per cent opaque body. Aroma of crisp citrus with lemons and oranges here along with a strong wheatie malt note and some flowers to couple with a bit of breadiness here, too. Medium-bodied; Fairly mild flavours at first with a slight grainy and rustic malt character that seemingly comes from nowhere, with some lighter citrus notes as well and a light dryness from herbal and grassy flavours at the very end. Aftertaste is pretty rich and well-rounded throughout, with some slight bitterness here, a kick of flowers and herbal dryness with the rustic, grainy malts somehow still the strongest, here. Overall, an enjoyable, rather unassuming (hazies shouldn't be malty and rustic!) beer that doesn't really fit well in the nuanced IPA style categories - it's simply a nice IPA, pure and simple. Good to try, pretty fresh and fairly local - a good standard option if you can find it! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Wegman's [grocery] in Gainesville (Lake Manassas), Virginia on 05-October-2022 for US$2,33 (part of a mixed six pack), canned on 17-May-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 20-October-2022.

750 ml bottle. Can’t remember whe I got this from. Hazy, orange gold color. Creamy white cap. Earthy, musty malt aroma. Tangy malt flavor upfront. Notes of plum, unripe pear, Meyer lemon and white grapes. Some oakiness as well. Light bodied and drinkable. It’s been forty-three years since we lost John Lennon. War is over if you want it…
