Description
Belgian and Hop forward inspired Brewpub located in Historic Uptown Shelby, North Carolina. Enjoy up to 16 hand-crafted brews, cuisine and live music.

Newgrass Brewing Company resides in heart of what many people know as the “City of Pleasant Living,” otherwise known as Shelby, North Carolina. We draw on our farmland surroundings, traditions and local heroes for inspiration while striving to maintain our own unique and progressive brewing concepts.

Just as the “newgrass” music genre was a progressive take on a very traditional style of music in bluegrass, Newgrass Brewing Company strives to do the exact same by blending renditions of traditional styles with deconstructed and reinterpreted progressive brews that have no borders.

No head, completely flat. Medium body but smooth, no pulp. Sweet, a bit tart. Blueberry and coconut, dry finish. Very nice.

Taster at home courtesy of Sander, big thanks. orange murky color, almost no head. lots of fruit pulp. smells vanilla, artificial, medical, spiced, cinnamon. ok smell. full body, no carbonation. tastes of apple crumble, cinnamon, fruit pulp, vanilla. finishes sweet with note so of fruit pulp, vanilla and some spices. hmm, yeah, ok, not a big fan. tastes more like fruit puree, not much that reminds me of a beer.

Pint can thanks to Drake! Murky orange with a tightly-knit off-white head. Somewhat unappealing aroma of lemon, lactose, vanilla, mint. Effing lactose all over this thing... lactose, vanilla, lemon flavors - in that order. More sweet than sour, and really unappealing.

For both aromas and flavors mainly what I get is the cake batter with a little apple. Sweet tart, good body and carbonation with puree at the bottom of the can. Not bad but doesn't live up to the label.

Can sourced from Ales and Brews and drunk at home (18/03/2021) - opaque murked up orange colour with a white head. New brewery tick ✅ exotic tropical fruity with some papaya and red grapefruit, gooseberry and grapes, dense mouthfeel and medium body, sweet malty backing, balanced bitter hoppy close. Good stuff.

The aromas are blackberries, floral and pale lager. Flavors are similar to nose, fairly dry, not overly sour, a little lemon in the background. Good body, carbonation and finish. Decent berry sour but nothing too special.

Lots of berry in the aroma but bordering on cleaning supplies. Flavors are somewhat similar, very dry and tart. Not sure I'd want to cook with it. Maybe. Wouldn't buy another.
