This pint can came recommended by Brandon at D&Q in Houston on visit there last month. Priced optimistically, I trust the beer is good. My Buffalo Bayou snifter is ready to receive the pour, I see an imperial stout as black as possible and no head to speak of. The smell is assuredly chocolate and perhaps some grain. But I'm here for the taste, yes, it is definitely heavy with chocolate along with toast, a bit of vanilla, a caramel sweetness, malt and some depth in the sensation. Tasty, certainly a pastry stout and one to linger over.

Sample at The Roost, pours an oily black, khaki, thick head. Leggy too. Hot cocoa and marshmallow nose. Flavors same. Full, sweet, tannic finish. 7 5 7 3 12

Bottle thanks to Ian. Pours black with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong bourbon, licorice, wood, vanilla. Slick body, dark chocolate, licorice, wood, boozy, nice sweetness, enjoyed this.

Bottle. Pours black with small tan that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong oreo, bourbon, vanilla, marshmallow powder. Slick body, marshmallow fluff, oreos, roast, nice sweetness, hides alcohol well, enjoyed this.

Looks amazing, opaque black, huge mocha head, massive legs. Nose has a lot, plenty of jam and red wine lees, molasses and cocoa, marzipan, toast. Flavor is very jammy, toast and dark chocolate. A bit simple. The berry seems to overwhelm and all you can read after that is the molasses malt base. Full bodied, off dry finish. 7 5 7 4 13

Sample oily, viscous black, film of brown head, deep legs. Nose has cinnamon and caramel and molasses, heavy vanilla and chocolate syrup. Flavor is honestly straight cinnamon roll, malt and molasses too. Full bodied, sweet, sticky, boozy finish. Decadent. 8 5 8 4 15
