(Keg at Viisi Penniä, 201500109) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, malts and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, malts, molasses, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, hoppy and bitter. A well done hoppy mild brown ale.

On tap at What’s Brewing. A dark brown beer with a dense, creamy, light brown head. Lacings. It’s lightly roasted on the palate, with prunes and raisins, citrus zest, some molasses and licorice. Full body and a nice carbonation level. Dry to semi-dry, bitter and herblike notes in the flavor. Roasted malts, dark dried fruits, molasses, a touch of alcohol and some bitterness too. Lasting finish. In my notes I’ve written that it’s an unusual but delicious beer. That’s sure valid, but it wasn’t until I read the commercial description that I noticed it was barrel aged. Subtle barrel ageing or drunk rater? Don’t remember to be particularly drunk that night, but I’m open for a combination. 141031

On tap at What’s Brewing. A dense, finger-thick off-white head forms on top of a clear, dark golden body. The aroma has a yeasty touch, lots of fruityness, peaches dominating, and some alcohol notes. The flavor has a light bitterness, it’s dry and full-bodied on the palate, yet with a fine sweetness. Nice carbonation level and a lasting finish. A bit sweet in the flavor I think, but it’s far, far from cloying. Guess there’s just a tad too much unfermentable sugars in it. 141031

On tap at What’s Brewing. It pours a lightly unclear body, dark amber in color and with a dense, two-finger thick beige head leaving curtains. The aroma is on the hoppy side, with a light caramel maltyness in the back. Citrus fruits and pine cones. There’s a fine bitterness in the flavor, with fruityness, citrus and piney notes, on a backdrop of caramel maltyness. It’s medium sweet and full-bodied with a nice carbonation level. A powerful IPA, tasteful and a beer I could certainly try with some cheese. A bit low on aroma, but sure nice anyway. 141031
