Draft at Moo & Brew in Charlotte. Dark opaque mahogany color, beige head. Vanilla aroma on a roast background. Vanilla up front in the taste as well, with a bit of fruity coffee. Tasty.

You can taste a subtle honey flavor in the beer. A solid beer, not too heavy.

Slightly hazy deep copper and bronze coloured body with a thinnish, single to two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of honey, resin, malt, alcohol, grain and earthy scents. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich malty and super earthy flavour with a bunch of metallic and astringent pungency throughout with a big grain flavour, bunches of alcohol and a dose of pure honey sweetness near the end - very strong, slightly sweet and pungent throughout, especially in terms of the alcohol warmth felt at the end. Aftertaste shows the pungency throughout with the resin, hop and deep flavours that are seen throughout this beer, but come out even stronger at the end. Overall, a strong and quite pungent Imperial IPA with some decent flavours, just a bit too astringent and strong throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Grape Vine in Fort Mill, South Carolina on 21-August-2017 for US$1,70 after watching the Eclipse jin South Carolina, sampled back at home in Washington on 06-November-2017.

Hazy deep amber and slightly copper coloured body with a nice opaque glow and a thinnish, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of honey, resin, tropical fruits, citrus and way more syrupy sweet notes along with a big dose of grain and yeast. Medium-bodied; Strong funky citrus and orange flavours with a hint of curacao along with more of an earthy/metallic malt note and little else aside from alcohol and a pungent, yeast-centric flavour. Aftertaste shows the syrupy, sticky and resinous notes with a little bit of sugars, some pungent honey flavours and an astringent bitterness from all the funk with not much coming from fresh hops, rather from the funky side of things here, but especially the hops, yeast and pungency from the malt notes. Overall, not such a great beer of course and worth passing up, in favour of some other local South Carolinian beer. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from GrapeVine in Fort Mill, South Carolina on 21-August-2017 for US$2,34 after watching the Eclipse with my family, sampled at home in Washington on 09-October-2017.

Undated can: Buttered toast, pencil shavings, tea nose. Cloudy copper, medium yellow head. Sweet tea, wood, dried leaves, somewhat vegetal. Full body, easy carbonation. Drinks like a barleywine that didn’t respond well to aging.
