Bottle: Hazy, dark coppery-brown with a frothy beige head. Ham, fruit-wood, caramel aroma. Taste is smoky caramel malt, with a dry, woody/herbal bittering. Pretty decent.....great scent, but a slightly watered-down flavour.

Undated can into a pint. A: What little isn’t foam is the color of cola with similar carbonation and slightly darker head. Alas, it’s a whole glass full of foam. S: Faint smokiness and bitter chocolate. Meaty and nutty notes. T: After waiting several minutes for that ridiculous head to subside I wiped it away to taste bitter chocolate, tart nuts (hazel/chestnut?) and smokey grains. Slight sweetness on the finish. M: Medium light, slick and fizzy, finishing slightly sticky. O: Carbonation is a problem here but taste isn’t bad. This actually comes off in every way much like a smoked cola but with an obnoxious head. Ultimately worth a revisit but glad I did not buy a 6 pack. Points taken for no dating.

Shaker pint draft at Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar in Charleston, South Carolina. The pour is an opaque black brown with a small tan head. The aroma is fresh roast malt, sweet soft caramel, milky and mineral. The taste is clean roast malt, soft sea salt and caramel milk towards the mineral dry finish. The palate is light bodied with active carbonation and the dry mineral finish. Nice.

Keg at Craft 100 - Craft Beer Co. Clapham, London. Pours mostly clear orange with a creamy, off-white head. The nose holds lightly toasted pale malts, subtle aged pine, ripe citrus. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with rich bread, alcohol, pine and mango. Full bodied and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming and resinous on the finish, with more ripe fruits, melon. Hearty stuff.
