Description
We are a hyper-local nanobrewery in Bristol, Vermont with a 3 barrel brewhouse. Reserve your table for outdoor dining Fri-Sat for a true VT farm to pint experience!

Hogback Mountain Brewery was founded in 2015 by Kevin Hanson with his love of brewing.

In 2018 Jamie and Sam Sawyer were looking for a new adventure in the Vermont craft beer scene and Kevin was looking to have more time to mow his lawn. Everything made perfect sense and in 2019 Hogback Mountain Brewery will move from Kevin’s carriage barn to its new location on Rocky Dale Road in Bristol, Vermont. Though Jamie and Sam are changing locations and will branch out with a taproom this spring, the mission of "local supporting local" has never changed.

Sam is 2017 graduate of the American Brewer's Guild and is the creative force behind many of our brews.

TAPROOM is open!! Stop in to experience some true VERMONT beers crafted with Vermont-grown ingredients.

From my brother: pours brown with a beige small head. Aroma is caramel, nuts, malts. Taste is sweet, nutty, toasty. A bit oily. Good bit of bitterness. Not a bad brown ale.

From my brother: pours deep gold with a white head. Aroma is light fruitiness, bread. Taste is on the sweeter side of kolsch. Mild hoppiness. Basic fruitiness. Good for what it is.

From my brother: pours slightly hazy yellow with loose white head. Aroma is a lightly funked lemon lime type thing. Light lemon lime sort of sourness. Seems sort of like kettle sour... weird or infected?

From my brother: pours a moderate amber with a nice large beige head. Aroma is earthy, hints of pine, bit of bread. Not sure if this was at peak freshness or if the amber IPA was supposed to be this way. IBU did not seem as high as stated on the can, but this was still pretty bitter, somewhat sticky, light sweetness. Still it was pretty easy to drink and did not dry you out like the hopbombs of yesteryear. Solid beer.

From Pearl Street Liquor in Burlington: pours lightly hazed gold with a white head. Aroma is grass cuttings, herbs and some dirt... Taste is slightly sweet. It is a bit vegetal. Light bitterness. Solid enough, but has that farm brewery taste.

Bottle shared at the cookout on MV. This one gushed a little. Pours clear amber-brown with a creamy, off-white head. The aroma holds toasted malts, pine, caramel. Light to medium sweet flavour with more toasted grains, dry caramel, pine, earth. Light to medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with more toasted malts and caramel. The bottle might be a little past its prime, but overall the beer seems like kind of an old-school interpretation of the style. So so.
