This was poured into a tall English pub glass with a fast pour to assist in trying to bring out a good pilsener effect.
Hereβs the rest.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden yellow color with a one to two finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving a messy lacing roaming around the glass.
The smell started off with a grassy to light citrus hoppiness roaming over a light pilsner malt.
The taste stays sweet and crisp rolling into a crisp clean grassy aftertaste leading into a refined crisp finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly good sessionability and has a nice carbonation about it. It pounds appropriately for the style and for me.
Overall, as a pilsener it definitely works adding a slight citrus in the aroma. Iβd have this again.

Very cloudy yellow. almost no head. Good yeast presence with the peppery aroma, honey and clove. A little cinnamon and walnut. decent mouthfeel. finish leaves a lot of peppery notes. Leaves a lot to be desired.

Slightly cloudy, light yellow a great dense off white head with tight bubbles. Aroma is light, hint of grapefruit, sweet orange, tangerine and table sugar. Really great mouthfeel, dense and tingly. Lager yeast is there but not overwhelming. Hop bitterness lingers for a very long time. This is a solid beer. Wish it had more juiciness.

Draft at the brewery. Cloudy gold color, lasting head. Aroma is grassy, citrus tones, strong floral notes. The yeast is decent character with a huge amount of citrus, grass and a nice lightly pepper from the yeast. The mouthfeel is spicy and has a nicely herbal balance. I really enjoyed this saison, nicely made.

Draft at Holy Grail, Epping. Crystal clear yellow color, fizzy carbonation that had slow dying head. The aroma is light pils malt and that faint citrus from the Citra hops. Extremely light even when warm.
The flavor starts with very weak citrus with a massive grainy base. After the citrus dies away it ends clean with a drying finish. Body is medium leaning on light with bitterness almost nonexistent. Even fresh this is malty. Overall, pretty respectable but Iβm not rushing to down another pint.

Tap. Pours cloudy amber, medium beige head, nice lacing. Aroma is malty, bready, a bit of caramel. Flavor is light sweet, malty, a hint of citrus. Light bitterness comes through in the end and lingers. Medium body, a bit of acidity. Better than its ratings...

Bomber drunk 4/17/15
Pour is a clear muted amber with some drab olive tints and a fluffy white head that is mostly well-retained.
The nose is a very lovely balanced mix of fresh, floral hops (read: no pine whatsoever) and just a touch of citrus hoppiness thrown in for good mesaure (lemons and oranges). The leafy, fragrant hops combine well with a dry, but assertive maltiness of brown bread and lightly toasted grains. No crystal malt, thank god. Yeastiness is lightly apparent, contributing light cellar notes and moderate fruitiness that adds a welcome complexity and livliness to the beer. No alcohol, no flaws.
Flavor is wonderfully bitter but immaculately balanced as well. Brown bread-like maltiness provides just enough sweetness to balance the floral and lightly citric hoppiness. Touches of light dough, strong pepper (hops) and a zesty, tight carbonation all keep the beer interesting and flowing to the end, where a crisp finish leaves well-attenuated malts and plentiful hop bitterness. Floral hop flavors abound and the beer is supremely refreshing. Perhaps a touch more softness/depth of malt would make this even more comforting to drink but as is, I have few complaints. Itβs refreshing to see a moderately hoppy beer these days that has neither tropical fruits or pine (or even a heavy citrus character). I donβt remember Switchback being particularly good back in the day; if I remember correctly they were very given to diacetyl and sloppy production of the beer. Seems those days are over? Whatever the case, this was excellent.
