From its inception in an old barn in South Portland to its realization at Industrial Way, Battery Steele brewing has been fueled by a dedication to continuing the craft beer legacy of Portland Maine. The brewery was founded by Jacob Condon and Shane Noble, who together share a collective 25 years in the brewing industry. They strive to offer a wide variety of styles, frequently rotating through new ideas, variations, ingredients and concepts, to not only offer the community something new but also to continue to challenge themselves as brewers.

Brewery draught, 12/12/24. Dark. Tan head to ring quickly. LOT of oak...not even coconut or pineapple just big WOOD. Bit of spice, light roast and chocolate behind it. Not boozey. Soft, sweet, malty, succulent, rich, amply malty. Seems to be double mashed/long boiled. Big fudge, chocolate, spice. Not syrupy though on the sweeter side. Lingering oak and bourbon spice. Just needs a bit more attenuation or stronger dryness from somewhere.

Brewery draught, 12/12/24. Clear, deep golden-brass. Not much head. Is that real yeast?? Smells like it. Apple and such with white grape, baguette, mild herb. Clean. In the mouth it's a bit light, a touch thinner but with killer herb, pepper, and apple. Mineral, basement. Lingering lemon oil and sourdough. Weird one but it has the yeast signature and ample malt. Just a bit rough around the edges, like most of their beers...

16 oz. can. The aroma shows peach, mild blueberry and soft vanilla. So the flavor does have all the adjuncts here. The finish does have some salinity. So in theory, this is a Gose. But I think a triple adjuncted Gose is a bit much in this instance.

Can at home. Pours black, nose is dark chocolate, roasted coffee, earthy, toffee, taste is bitter, burnt coffee, dark chocolate not really getting any coconut.
