(355ml can shared by Luc, thanks!) Pours lightly hazed medium red with a decent pinkish head. Notes are an incredibly intense watermelon candy with lightly tart red berries, bright floral quality but melon morphs into hibiscus almost, creamy vanilla and marshmallow sweetness is nice and rich, filling in most of the fruity acidity typical of HHoE beers and leading to a slightly drying fruity-floral finish with slight crisp minerals. Fairly light-bodied with average carbonation. Crazy delicious, what a friend would call a Tivoli Sour in extremis because it's pure candy fun and whatnot, but it's great!

(2018 keg on tap @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, Aug 7 2019) Nearly clear bright gold pour, white head and lots of lace. Aroma is quite oaky and lightly fruity, reminiscent of an oaked Chardonnay, moderately funky. Flavour is light lactic acidity meets oaked white wine, a bit buttery, some lemon and grapefruit, straw, pith, minerals. Lightish body with soft carbonation. Good mellow wine-like blended farmhouse with a lot of barrel character as you'd expect from some of the more long-term aged threads in the blend, with rstrained acidity for a HHoE barrel-aged beer. Nice!

(On tap @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, Aug 7 2019) Medium red pour pinkish head heavy lace. Aroma intense red currant juice, cran raspberry juice, slightly earthy and musky, some wet earthy funk, fresh leaves. Flavour is high acidic cranberry and currant, biting citrus, leaves, slight red wine vinegar, berry pips, soft oak, minerals, some tannin and wet funk in the back. Light to med bodied and slick. Quite heavy on the acidity even for an HHoE beer, with the currants probably contributing quite heavily to that. Nice one but I could have had the acidity dialled down a bit.

Tasting at Matt's, bottle
Cloudy dull pink-golden colour. Nice fruity character, red wine, with little residual sweetness, and the sourness, although sharp, it's not offensively exxcessive.

(750ml bottle kindly shared by Herbalist, thanks!) Pours nearly clear gold with light pinkish highlights and a big loose white head. Raspberry is prominent on the nose with tart citrus, funk, soft oak and a little minerality in behind. Flavour is quite sour overall with candied orange, lemon-lime soda, moderate raspberry, lactic bite with hints of fruit vinegar, soft wood, a little cereal, interesting residual sweetness mid-sip washed away by salty minerality into the tart finish. Light to medium bodied, fairly soft but filling carbonation. Interesting brew, raspberry was quite prominent for second use, citrus made for rather high acidity, but certainly complex.

(355ml can c/o Herbalist, thanks!) Pours hazy pale orange with a big dense white head that leaves lace. Notes of tart juicy citrus at the core along with candied pineapple, rich suffusion of chai spices like cardamom and cinnamon, subtle nutty earthiness (almonds?), tingling ginger, nice current of sweetness running through from the vanilla and lactose, finishing dry and lightly tart with some subtle hoppy bitterness and lingering spices. Medium bodied, nice fine carbonation. A crazy experiment that somehow worked, with a subtle DIPA core and a really nice balance among the crazy adjuncts. When they get it right, HHoE really does the wacky beer concept to a T.

(375ml bottle from the brewery webshop c/o Herbalist, thanks!) Pours lightly hazed dark amber with a loose off-white head and lace. Notes of fairly high acidity citrus and pit fruit, orange/lemon/apricot bite, maybe yellow plum?, vinous woodsiness reminiscient of a very sour wine, crisp slightly toasty cereals without much obvious caramel sweetness but a little spicy grain structure, clear oaky bite especially in the finish, astringent and tannic, with a long interesting acidic aftertaste. Light to medium slightly oily body with average carbonation. Definitely a different beer, I'm interested by some of these HHoE lagers or traditional farmhouses without adjuncts even if I mostly prefer their other offerings. Quite enjoyable as an aperitif though the acidity would have me struggle not to share a bottle.

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy, rusted amber with a small white head. Aroma is full of strong red wine barrels, grape must, and oak. Flavour is very oaky, dry and woody, with lots of oak barrels, grape must, vinous notes, and a little funk. The red wine character intensity is quite high, with lots of woody and red wine must on the finish. Good stuff.
