About
Henderson Brewery was founded in 2013, after industry veterans and beer lovers Steve Himel and Adin Wener decided there was an opportunity to apply craft brewing values and techniques to more approachable beer styles, in order to make beer that anyone would be happy to find in their fridge day after day.
Work began on our Sterling Road brewery in the summer of 2015. In January 2016, we sold our first beer at The Rhino in Parkdale and by May of that year, our taproom and bottle shop were in full swing!
Over the past decade, we've brewed hundreds of different styles, hosted hundreds of thousands of people, packaged millions of litres of beer, and won dozens of brewing awards

This porter poured a deep, dark black colour with a creamy, brown chocolate head. Nice lacing. Scents include cocoa, cookie dough, coconut, caramel malts and a hint of coffee. First swig was not as syrupy as expected. Strongly flavoured with tastes of coconut, cookie dough, cocoa, medium toast and caramel. Finish is thicker, but not too sweet, with flavours of coffee, coconut and the dough lingering…

Pours a cheery purple with a touch of white head that flattens out right away. Fruity berry flavour, light on the malts, but a little straw is barely there. A little lime. Super cheer and drinkable. Not the most complex but does what it does.

Clearish gold with a decent white head. Light apple and baking spice. Much like the nose.

Hmmm, a lot going on here. Pours dark chestnut brown, tan head to a ring. Nose is a little boozy, toasted malts, molasses, nice. Taste is Rye alcohol, molasses, rich toasted malts with some sweetness, a little chocolate, a little clove. Honestly, probably the best I've had from them.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours a deep, clear chestnut brown, tan head, to ring. Boozy bourbon nose, that hiding all the malt. Taste leans a similar way, lots of booze, bourbon right up front. Sweet roasted malts, a little esters. I'm missing the grapes entirely. Feels a little thinner than I would have expected.

Can from the brewery. Gold pour with a hint of pink and a slight haze. Head drops to zero right away. Getting heavy raspberry nose. Taste heavy on the raspberry, hay malts, sweet up front, finishes fairly dry, some esters. A bit of malty bitterness in the finish.

Can from the brewery. Coke brown. Bready toasted malts mild sweetness, mild hazelnuts, a little ashy. Runs a little bitter in the finish. Decently full flavour for session strength, but the ashiness, and finish is a little off. Passible.

This ale poured a hazy golden amber colour with a creamy, off white head. Nice lacing. Scents include honey, malt, a little spice and a tiny amount of skunk. First swig was expected sweet but turned slightly bitter. Flavours of malt, straw and hops. Finish is mildly hoppy with a slight malty bitterness lingering.

Oh it's golden, and it an ale, just as advertised. And that's about it. Lots of malty hay, decent density, some bitterness on the finish. This is a solid ale, but nothing terribly interesting.

Pours inky brown, thin sheet of tan head that dissipates quickly. Wow the smell, getting that graham cracker flavour strongly, some sweet syrup, touch of chocolate. Taste isn't as sweet as I thought it was going to be, that graham cracker flavour is solidly front and center, with chocolate too, and a little coconut. The malts is in the back seat here, mildly bitter, thinner mouthfeel. Feels this would have been more of a hit if it st on a richer, fuller malt base. Worth a try if you're open to flavoured concoctions.
