Cask Gravity at The Hope ’Living is Easy’ Beer Fest. It pours clear amber, with a quickly dissipating white head. The nose is pretty subtle: weak lemon, caramel, leather and sweat. The taste is wood, leather, some caramel sweetness, pepper and lemon, with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not much to it. A sub-par effort from the usually great Buxton brewery.

Clear amber color, good off-white head. Very sweet fruity hoppyness in the nose. Light-bodied. Pine needles in the hoppy flavor. Long resiny bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice real ale.

50cl bottle sampled with friends at beer temple. Thin off white head. Hazy dark amber pour. Great bitterness.

(Cask at Black Door, 20120715) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were hops, fruitiness, pine, malts and strong bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. Hops were quite dominating and the overall impression was musty.

(Cask at Kittys, 20120725) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was small, sparse and white. Aroma had citricness, tangerine, general fruitiness and mildly malts. Palate was medium bodied with almost medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, citricness, grass, malts and quite intense bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A very tasty brew with a bit poor looks.

33cl bottle shared with Joes, Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Pitch black opaque color, small beige to light brown head. Smell malts, dark malts, some coffee and hop. Taste malts, roasted malts, some alcohol, slightly hops, nicely bitter. Nicely oily texture, full body, medium carbo. Again a superb brew by Buxton!

Bottle thx to Rene van de Ven aka benzai, not thx to joes. Pitch black opaque colour with a small light brown head. Smells coffee, sweet, deep. Tastes lots of coffee, roasty, some ash, bit earthy. Medium to full body, low carbo.

50cl bottle shared with Joes, Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Hazy murky red-brown color, small beige head. Smell hops, fruityness and citrus. Taste malts, lightly hops, very fruity: citrus, grapefruit, lightly liquorice wood and bitter. Very nice bitter finish. Medium carbo and body.

Bottle @ joes thx to benzai. Hazy copper to amber colour with a quickly gone head. Smells very hoppy, bitter, fresh, grapefruit, lovely! Tastes hoppy, bitter, slightly roasty, some coffee also. Quite a special brew. Good carbo, medium body.

Cask at CBC, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy, tan head. Nose holds lots of sweet grapefruit and restrained roast. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of grapefruit, pineapple, orange and mango, blended with a sturdy roasted malt character, pine and darkened grass. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Sticky, resinous finish with dark toast and grass, more grapefruit, burnt pine and dark citrus. Just an overall super black IPA. Excellent.
