Bottle. A- Mint, chocolate. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Mint, chocolate. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, strong finish. O- This was overkill with the mint. Stout base was there but mint was galore.

Can. A- Chocolate, coconut, bourbon. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Coconut, fudge, bourbon, toasted. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish. O- I usually love coconut but it was a bit strong here. Also very bourbon forward. Really good but a small pour and some age might help it.

Draft. A- Toffee, candy corn, sweet, mild whiskey. A- Amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Candy corn, vanilla, treacle, pineapple, oak. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Very sweet. This might be a weizenbock at heart but it's weird. The flavors come through. You get a cream ale and pineapple, may less so on the cherries and the barrel influence. I'd call this just a strong ale at this point. A mutt of a beer but not bad.

Single can from HyVee, Carroll, IA. Pour looks a lot like a Coca-Cola, with a big head of foam. No hint of the blue fruit inside. But a nice berry smell with some beer malt matching up.Taste has an interesting fruit lead, then malts right behind. There's a kind of a sweetness like lipstick that's a bit of a distraction. Pretty decent, but I think this berry combo would work better against a stout.

Can (best by 7/11/23) pour from Friar Tuck, Crestwood. It's a hazy golden yellow with tons of sparkle, 2-finger off-white head with excellent retention and nice rings of lacing. Aroma is more-tart-than-sweet pineapple. Taste is very sweet pineapple (artificial tasting) over dry malt. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste with lingering dry bitterness. Overall, it's not surprising that the aroma/taste is pretty one-note but in neither instance is the pineapple the delicious version you'd hope for.

Pour looks like butterscotch with a small fizzy white head. Aroma is honey malt with a mix of caramel malt. Flavor is about the same. A mix of sweet and dry malt with a little bittering at the end. Finish is clean and gone in a second. This was ok.

Bottle/Fest. A- Coffee, roasty, earthy. A- Brown color, clear liquid, beige head. T- Coffee, roasty, earthy, cocoa. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Lady said I was the first to have tried this beer outside of brewery workers. Pressure was on to like it. Didn't get any barrel influence. Coffee character was earthy borderline vegetal. Okay.

Bottle from Binny's, Chicago.
A: hazy black, small, frothy, beige head.
A: cassis, blueberry jam on toast, fruit cake, nutmeg.
T: sweet-sour blueberry, toasty maltiness, burnt spices.
F: herbal hops, dark fruits, bitter berry skins and spicy-medicinal notes.
P: medium body, slick texture, average carbonation.
Not the most complex of brews but stylewise this is interesting for sure.

Bottle/Fest. A- Bland, cocoa. A- Black color, black liquid, minimal head. T- Roasty, bland, cocoa. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bland finish. O- Really flavorless. Hardly any raspberry that I could tell and just a generic roasted cocoa flavor. Meh.
